man this blows, apparently some defensive player for tennessee can't move his hands, according to the abc sideline reporter. hope that it's just temporary but this is scary for a kid who has his whole life ahead of him.

Xavier only had a concussion apparently and should be ok. Fulmer said there was no structural damage done. Good sign for a great kid.

I didn't know Mizzou was good. Hmm...

So it's basically them and Nebraska in the North?

Should be yeah. K-State should be decent but not great. I'm not expecting much out of Iowa State and Kansas, and I have no idea what to expect out of Colorado this year.

KU will be in the top 3 in the North. And we always have a shot at beating you clowns.

A sure sign of the quality of the Big XII North.

haha this is about 8 minutes of PSU fans watching the game at Beaver Stadium - funny to see the reactions with the made field goal (overrated chant), the Michigan long pass (people yelling "you suck!) and then the mayhem at the end when the kick is blocked. It's in 3 parts but man is it fun to watch.

Cousin lovin hits new high in Happy Valley!

Nice win by your boys, they played both sides of the ball well by the looks of it.

Welcome back, Cuse (though I know you've been posting for the last few days).

Thanks soccer. Life has slowed down some so I'll be on more.

Who are your picks to take the good ole boy award this year?

There will be a poll released tonight, right? If so I'll have the 9/8 thread (including Monday games) up around 9ish.

BTW, nothing that happened yesterday dampened my pick of LSU to win the national title. They should dispatch VT fairly easily in Baton Rouge next week.

tipping my cap to Cal...they are going to be good this year. I was a bit of a homer in my three predictions..TN/Cal, Auburn/Kansas State, Georgia/Ok State. Georgia won easily. Auburn struggled and had to pull out the win in the 4th quarter.

I like that you cheer for your conference though. I find it amazing how many Big Ten fans would rather Michigan and OSU lose in non-conference games. Not realizing this only make their school look even crappier.

of course he said nothing about Florida. you think Tennessee and Georgia fans would not revel in Florida losing to one of the nonconference patsies they line up, you would be wrong. you think Oregon and UCLA fans wouldn't love it if USC lost to Idaho last night, you would be wrong.

I personally rooted for every Big Ten team to win yesterday, except Michigan. it's about their over ratedness, the calls they routinely get, their fans sense of entitlement, AND the fact that if tied within the conference, the second tie breaker is overall record.

Cox is a very average QB. He benefitted two years ago from having very good wide receivers, but since then his weaknesses have been more than obvious.

The Tiger defense is terrific, no questions about them. But the offense is mediocre with or without Lester. He's not a game changer in the Cadillac/Ronnie Brown mold and that's what Auburn needs right now. If they had the running game they had in 04, they could once again cover for an average QB.

Agree...Auburn's offense in '05 was superior in almost every aspect. HB Kenny Irons (2nd round), WR Ben Obamanu (7th round), WR Devin Aromashadu - (7th round), WR Courtney Taylor (6th round), Cooper Wallace ('06 Titans), LT Marcus McNeil (2nd round), LG Ben Grubbs (1st round), RT Troy Reddick ('06 Giants). Cox absolutely benefited from that. Hey, i'm ready for the Kodi Burn era to begin at QB...promise.

I will argue that Lester may be better than you think. He took a backseat to Kenny Irons with respect to playing time in '05 and '06, but he rushed for more yards per carry than Irons in both seasons, and he scored over twice as many touchdowns as Irons did last season. Sophomore Ben Tate played RB last night, and while he outweighs Lester by 15 pounds and is stronger, he is not as fast nor can cut as well Lester. Auburn would benefit from using two backs again.

Bottom line...Florida and LSU may embarrass them.

I made no mention of Florida, because the winner of that game was predetermined. In the three I mentioned, SEC teams were playing fairly competetive non-conference games. No, I always root for SEC teams when they play non-conference games.

I thought it might be time to mention it in this thread also. So Penn St fans are excited because App St did something Penn St hasnt done in what 10 yrs? Michigan is in your conference. It is only going to make you guys look crappy if Michigan loses in non-conference games. Yet you guys get more excited about this then if you actually beat Michigan yourselves. Of course most Penn St fans younger than 25 probably dont remember the last time Penn St beat Michigan.

How does it make Penn State look bad? They haven't lost to Michigan this season. If they lose, then it will hurt them in the voting a bit depending on what Michigan does the rest of the way. If they win, the impact will be quite minimal. And the impact on recruiting probably overshadows that easily.

Most Big Ten fans hate rival conference schools and want to see them suffer. I wouldn't have it any other way.

A couple things on the Mizzou game that various people have mentioned...

Daniels' arm was most definitely going forward on that "fumble." Even the announcers, who were biased towards Illinois the whole game, were shocked by the call.

The teary eyed backup QB was most definitely not down on that 100 yard fumble return. No doubt about it. The ball came out when his knee was a good 12 inches away from being down.

The two blown delay of game calls were ridiculous. How those are missed, ever, I'll never understand.

Keener, are you signed up for Premium right now? When does it expire? How do you want to do this?

Yea Im signed up for premium but it should be running out soon. Id guess you could PM Tim and let him know you are paying for mine, that would probably be the easiest way to handle it. Thanks by the way, and GO ILLINI

Will do. And you may have won the bet, but my team won the game. I'll take that.

I don't think a poll's coming out tonight, so use this thread as discussion for the Monday games as well. I assume the poll will come out Tuesday, at which point the 9/8 thread will go up.

I dont. I am a Michigan St fan and would love to see Michigan go 0-8 in the conference after going 4-0 during the non-conference. To me the conference is a second loyalty. Of course my team has sucked for several years and I have to grasp on to something.

Secondly except for Wisconsin, Penn St is my least favorite Big Ten school. They came in the conference and "were going to dominate it year in and year out" and only have 2 title to show for it. They "dont sink to the levels of scum that the other schools do" yet it sure seems like a lot of their players have been arrested in the last 10 years also. Penn St has just as much crappy things go on as Ohio St and Michigan, yet most of their fans somehow think they are on some higher ethical plain. At least most OSU and Michigan fans are honest about their scumbags.

Lastly for how great Penn ST is. I do believe that every Big Ten school except Indiana has beaten Michigan since the last time Penn St has. So if they have to get excited because a Div 1aa school had to beat Michigan, I think that just shows how low they have sunken.

Dont get me wrong I was cheering for App St at the end of that game. I just am not relishing in it like some others. I want my school to beat Michigan because we are the best. Not because Michigan is not very good.

Penn State wanting to see Michigan lose to a non-con team is like Cubs fans wanting to see St. Louis lose to, say, San Diego

I think some would argue it'd be like seeing St. Louis lose to San Diego's AAA affiliate.

I could be dead wrong on this, but I'm thinking the Wolverines do some soul searching this week, come out and destroy Oregon, then go on to a pretty good season.

I think App State was a really good team, best in div 1-AA in a long time, and Michigan just got ambushed and caught not taking it seriously.

Another reason I think this is because defenses tend to take a bit of time to get going in the Big 10. I think teams like Michigan and Ohio State will start to find their defense as they go along.

Really, Michigan can still win the Big 10, get a BCS berth, and come away with a very nice season in spite of this loss. They'll need to beat out the Badgers and N Lions, but it's still quite possible.

I've seen the blue & gold resurrect themselves enough times. They're very ND-like in that regard sometimes.

The season is long, so they'll have plenty of opportunities to have a productive season. However, its going to take a lot more than soul searching. This is more than getting mentally set for a game or even game planning. They just need to get better period. Offensively, they should be good all season. Defensively they have some pretty big holes.

I agree they definitely have defensive issues to solve. That's going to be their big hurdle.

I've got the Badgers winning it. But I still think there's a chance Michigan could pull it off.

Also, I'm greedy. I want that Mich/Wisc game later on to be a showdown, because that would be alot of fun to watch if the Big 10 is really riding on it.

I haven't seen much of Lester so he could be better than I'm giving him credit for, but I don't put much credence into him being better than Kenny Irons. I was never really that impressed with Irons.

He benefitted, in my opinion, off the great receivers much like Cox did in 05. His real breakout year came in 05 (his first year after the transfer) and, much like Cox, that coincided with the senior years of Wallace, Obomanu, Taylor and Aromashadu.

How did he follow up his 1,000+ yards and 5.1 per carry the following year? Less than 900 yards and 4.5 per carry. He also didn't have the durability to carry nearly 250 times like Cadillac did when he rushed for around the same yards per carry in 04. On top of all that - he was supposed to be the focus of the Tiger offense last year.

I'm not entirely sure what it was that NFL people saw in him to take him in the second round. Must just be physical talent, because he didn't impress that much in college stats-wise.

Cox and Irons are very similar players in terms of how overrated they are.
