that one's all on the ace. damn.

with the help of his manager leaving him in way to long.

Looks like most of the damage was done in the 3rd and 4th. And given the pen's job and work in the last series, I wouldn't much blame Lou.

It's up to the ace to suck it up and bring a quality start. And the heat excuse is lame - I figure a guy from the tropics should be able to handle a Midwest summer. But that's JMO.

agreed. he yanks hill or marshall w/o hesitation in the fifth/sixth inning, but for some reason he feels like z deserves to continue pitching when it's clear he's got nothing.

Heat in the tropics is different than mid-west heat.

Ever been to Phoenix compared to Chicago when it's hot?

Just looking at the highlights that looks so gone! Damn!

That and Matty Murt's just missed drive 2 batters earlier. "Just missed" as in mis-hit it barely, got underneath a bit too much.

This team's overall lack of power is sickening. (and yes, I know that 3 of the 4 runs came on solo HRs)

True but he only gave up 1 run after the 5th and his pitch count was relatively low. If we pull him in the 5th it's not all that likely taht the bullpen goes 4 or more scoreless innings.

Funny you should mention that - I just came back from PHX. It's an oven, whereas both the tropics and summertime in the Midwest (I vacation in the former and was born & raised in the latter) resemble each other with respect to heat and humidity.

zambrano looks stoned as hell in this post game interview! he's avoiding eye contact and everything. lol

How does he look weight-wise? I'm concerned about his endurance this summer, and wonder if he's gained a few pounds, which could affect that.

he doesn't look abnormally large, imo.

I would like to apologize to everybody.

Since I took credit for the last two games the Cubs won (on Thursday and Friday) because I watched them, I will also take the blame for the last three losses since I was unable to watch any of the games. I will watch tomorrow's game.

So please, blame me for the last three losses.

Carlos was due for a shellacking. As of August 5th, he's was sporting an unsustainable BABIP of .179. That was due to come up at one point, and tonight was obviously one of those nights. He clearly didn't have his best stuff, but still gave up no HR and only 2 BB.

well at least they didnt lay down and die...

Agreed, plus we got 3 homers, and a couple "almosts".

Despite the loss, the Brewers lost too and I'm optimistic for tomorrow.

True, but they weren't really walking because they basically were teeing off against him. Yes, no HR's, but a few doubles and a bunch of singles that clearly did a lot of damage. This game was definitely worse than just "coming back down to Earth."
