I wouldn't want to swap Podsednik for one of Gallagher's or Soto's used jock straps. Plus, that makes absolutely no sense because they would both have to pass through waivers because they're on the 40-man roster. There's no way a team wouldn't claim either of these guys.

Now Bruce Levine is reporting the Sox will do a Sean Gallagher for Podsednik swap.

If this happens I'm punching someone or something!

What I find funny about this whole thing is how similar Pods is to Juan Pierre as a player. No one in there right mind is going to come close to paying Podsednik what the Dodgers are paying Pierre.

I get the feeling this isnt going to happen. If it does it will be for nothing and Podsednik will be a 5th OFer.

Kenny Williams should be drug tested for even thinking that either one of those guys would be available for Pods, but then again, he wanted even more than that from teams for a 50 year old pitcher with $20 mil left on his contract. KW is really nuts or sky high!

KW always swings for the fences in the early stages of a deal.

Thats almost a little low for what he normally swings for. Almost suprised he didn't ask for Pie.

Hendry needs to explain to Kenny Williams why Podsednik got through the whole AL and most of the NL without being claimed. It's because he sucks and the White Sox ought to be glad somebody is going to give them anything for him.

How in the world would Gallagher get through waivers in the first place? There are many teams that would have put in a claim on him and his potential.

That combined with the fact that he is the only pitcher the Cubs have ready to step in if one of the starters gets hurt or goes on the DL, tells me there is no way Hendry would make the deal.

You guys keep forgetting that if the Cubs make a deal with the Sox for Pods that involves a player the Cubs have to place on waivers to make the trade happen, it is unlikely another team will claim the Cubs' player (since the Cubs will simply pull him back) unless it is to block the trade. The only other scenerio I can think of is if another team claims the player and then offers the Cubs a sweeter deal than someone like Pods.

I'm damn sure they would. At least I hope Jim isn't that stupid.

Given the price that Hendry paid to land Pierre, I'm pretty certain that Hendry is indeed that stupid.

wow, let's hope hendry is smart enough not to trade his #1 pitching prospect for a guy that would be like the cubs' seventh best outfielder after soriano comes back.

like micah bowie???

Gallagher for Posednik would be Garland for Karchner revisited. Posednik shouldn't command anyone better than a marginal prospect.

Gallagher??!?!?! you have GOT to be kidding me. I would have rather traded Marmol for Dye than Gallagher for Podsednik. :pukel:

Big mistake, or biggest mistake of all time?

Latest rumor on the radio waves is that the Sox want Geovany Soto. Piersynski is only under contract through 2008 and the Sox think Soto would be a perfect fit as a starter in 2009. With Soto having a great year at AAA Iowa, he is almost too much to give up isn't he?
Unfortunately, I could see Hendry doing it. He obviously doesn't think much of Soto if he thinks Koyie Hill is better. So in Hendry's eyes this might be almost like getting something for nothing.

There's only 4 hours before the waiver claim expires, so at least right now it looks like nothing will come of this (which is good unless the Cubs gave up nothing).

I think Monday is the dealine. 48 business hours.

Will Ohman and Brian Dopirek for Pods. Final offer. Pods might be an answer at the 2 spot while Sorianos gone, but you dont want to give up anything big for someone who will essentially be holding down a spot for about 3 weeks.
