I was at the Sox game tonight, and every time Pods came to the plate I cheered, because it meant that it hadn't been traded to the Cubs.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the rumored waiver-wire trade talks between the Cubs and White Sox over Scott Podsednik are officially dead.

Cubs GM Jim Hendry said Saturday he still had live claims heading into Monday, but added he's comfortable with the current shape of his roster and isn't expected to make a deal.

Will Ohman and Brian Dopirek for Pods. Final offer. Pods might be an answer at the 2 spot while Sorianos gone, but you dont want to give up anything big for someone who will essentially be holding down a spot for about 3 weeks.

Theriot

Pods

Lee

Ram(hopefully)

Jones

DeRosa

Murton/Floyd

Kendall

Pitcher

No matter what the cost, it makes no sense to add an OF specifically to hit in the 2-spot. Especially in this lineup. As sad as it sounds, Jones has been pretty good there in the last couple games and if not him, put Murton there (and in LF).

BTW - although I appreciate you changing your avatar to a smaller pic, am I seeing your new avatar correctly? Is the bear in the Cubs logo being...um...taken from behind, so to speak? Weird.

Its not that its being taken from behind that makes it, its whats taking it from behind that does.

Quite a change from "I'm gonna go gangbusters to make a waiver deal!!" from a couple days ago, isn't it.

Ahh the shifting winds of the mind of Jim Hendry.

Next time Jim, just tell the truth: the team is being sold, nobody's going to let us spend a ton of cash. It's very simple, it's the truth, and it avoids making everyone look like fools down the road.

When did he say that he was desperately trying to make a deal? He said he's put in lots of claims, but I've never heard him say that he wanted to make a deal for anything but the right price.

Oh he will make deal, mark my words. It may not be a good one, it may not be a logical one, but he will make a deal.

I get it. Very funny. And by funny, I mean trollish.

The rumored waiver-wire trade talks between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox over Sox outfielder Scott Podsednik are dead, and, in fact, never had much of a pulse in the first place. One source suggested the chances were never better than ''one in a thousand'' from the outset.

Maybe hendry isn't so dumb
