Fun little thread. Think back to the Dusty days. If Dusty was our manager this year, how would things have been different this season? Here are a few ideas I came up with:

...Izturis would still be getting 4-5 starts a week at SS

...Theriot would either be in Iowa or the 25th man

...Fontenot would not have a Major league AB this season

...Barrett would likely still be our catcher

...Wade Miller would be getting another shot at the rotation right about now

What else?

oh and what a relief it is not seeing that little annoying kid Darren at every post game press conference. I can't believe that was allowed.

If I remember right, Dusty didn't mind Theriot. He earned his spot on this year's roster outright due to his play under Dusty.

Izturis may very well still be getting PT.

I honestly don't think DB could have pulled the team together after that crazy June (and other scattered problems). I'm not even a huge proponent of motivation and chemistry... but this year has been up-and-down in unbelievably wild ways, and I don't think Dusty's style or competence could handle it.

Eyre would probably still be our main setup man.

There's no way Marmol would have as important a role as he currently has.

-Toothpicks stock would rise greatly.

-Z, Lilly, & Marquis would be top of the league in pitches thrown.

-Neifi Perez would find his way back onto the Cubs.

I would be a full bore Brewers fan. Call me a bandwagoner if you want, but I could not have continued rooting for this team if they were stupid enough to resign him.

Izturis would also be batting 2nd.

Mark DeRosa would spend too much time on the bench.

Give up lineups on get-away-day.

Zambrano going deep into 9-0 games.

Sacrifice bunts.

Double switches at every opportunity, even if they don't make sense.

Theriot was on the team last May from May 8 until May 26 and stepped into the batters box a whopping five times. I have no reason to believe Theriot would have a chance with dusty managing and Izzy/DeRosa on this team.

Izzy would easily be starting every day.

We also would go out and trade for an overrated, declining catcher putting up horrible numbers...ohh wait..........

... I was in the on-deck circle when Hank hit the big one.

... It's a lot like fishing...

... You got one dude who doesn't do his job and the other dudes are wanting to do this dudes job...

Wasn't Tomas Perez a non-roster invitee to spring training? He would have gotten about 60-80 starts by now, probably would have brought back Macias too

So much for the notion that managers don't have a large impact...

Many people believe that managers can't have a large impact in a good way on a team but can have a large impact in a negative way on a team.

Second basemen bat second, dude.

Baseball Analysts everywhere in the world would still be saying "Dusty Baker is NOT the reason the cubs are failing."
