  1. Wow, don't bother getting him a ticket on the next plane, just leave him in New York :beg:
  2. Trade Z, fire Lou, Fire Hendry, dump Soriano, start over
  3. I don't know, Soto looks like he couldn't get lucky in a brothel with a mouth full of twenties right now. Hits it hard every time, somebody always makes a good play.
  4. Well, that's one way to approach it. Probably works in Cuba, I'm guessing the players union would have trouble with it.
  5. I am not an expert on this, but clearly the guy is hurting this team right now. If you bench him, does he pout for 5 years? Is there any way at all to move him off this team without cutting him? How could you structure a trade to make it worthwhile to send him somewhere else? (Obviously, you could say Alfonso and Vitters for Neifi, and the Cubs will pay all the salaries, on second thought, Jim don't read this). I am not trying to start a "Soriano Sucks" thread, just curious how some of you would approach this.
  6. So, more recent homerun than Soriano then? Give him a big raise
  7. At risk of statistical humiliation, wouldn't it also be possible to sign a RIGHT handed right fielder that could platoon with someone like Hoff? Especially since the consensus is that Pie is now expendable. Might be cheaper overall, what would that look like? (Could always go the trade route at the deadline if Micah implodes).
  8. Sammy and Alou could hit good right handed pitchers. Apparently, Lee, Ramirez and Soriano can't.
  9. Almost, Upton through the ball into Auggie, kinda lobbed it in and Soriano then went home.
  10. I wonder if they will move Fukodome to left? Maybe start DeRosa in right. Of course, then you have 2 left handed 2nd basemen (kind of matches the 2 right handed 2nd basemen). Haven't we tried the fantasy all second basemen approach before?
  11. That's... insane. The guy that plays your position is hurt, so they call up a second baseman in order to move the second baseman to left field? Would it be too much to ask for someone in the Chicago media to point out how illogical that is?
  12. Unearned runs occur when runners score who shouldn't. Those errors occured after base hits and scored on a triple.
  13. Imagine the pressure the team would be feeling if the Brewers had won? I bet they'll be a whole lot more relaxed tomorrow.
  14. Wasn't Tomas Perez a non-roster invitee to spring training? He would have gotten about 60-80 starts by now, probably would have brought back Macias too
  15. How about a little imagination? The BOSS looks and feels panicked over this year, why not really get something good? He needs pitching and outfield, right? Why not Jacque, ARam and Prior for A Rod? I know, I'm high, but I'm all for blowing up our particular team and getting something worthwhile.
  16. Now that's an actual intelligent thought the Cubs staff would never come up with. I thought Womack should have done it, Smoltz would never have made it to first.
  17. Anybody think we ought to bunt a whole bunch of times in a row and see if Smoltz makes it through the game?
  18. Actually, for me, its not about hating him it's more about having something else to cheer for. Sort of like betting the low yield bets in Craps
  19. Down to .189 C'mon Neifi, time to make history, how low can you go?
  20. The Mendoza line has been the standard of Major League futility for what, about 35 years? If Neifi can finish the season at .190 or worse, maybe it's time for a new standard. Who knows, maybe Neifi gets a plaque in Cooperstown....
  21. Where the heck is Theriot? Isn't he supposed to provide energy to the lineup? Or is that just energy drinks?
  22. Nope, not Z. I'd trade any of the other guys on the pitching staff, including Prior (depending on the compensation.) Carlos is going to be a horse for about another 15 years
  23. That's a good point, I don't know who would replace him. But he and Rameriz seems to be the only position players we have that would bring anything substantial in a trade. Since we tried for 30 years to replace our last 3rd baseman, seems like it might be time to try the other side. Just a thought, I love Lee, but if we're rebuilding, might as well go all the way
  24. Might not be the most popular notion, but Trade Lee this offseason. He will never be worth more.....
