how the hell does that crap get out?

Cause he hung a pitch and the batter hit it hard? Seriously you are comical with your excuses for Hill. I bet if Marquis had this same crap performance you would be saying alot of different stuff

I am starting to feel about Hill the way I used to feel about Wood. When Wood pitched there was always a chance he would be completely dominant, or completely terrible. Hill does not have Wood's velocity obviously. So when his curveball isn't working, he doesn't have much else.

Typical Cubs. 1st inning of the first game and the series and season is over.

WOW....

Marquis's going Sunday, you think that'll turn out well?

and to think some people think Rich is more of an all star than Z.

well considering he's been a better pitcher this year...

Give it about one more week.

Great way to start the series boys. Our bullpen sucks. They are going to sweep us.

Well at least then we will be able to be sellers at the deadline.

Alright.

Not a good start, not at all. But let's focus on the game plan and put a dent in thier lead. We don't need to make it all up with one swing.

Come on Cubbies!

HBP on a batter that didn't try to move

The ball came right at his back and was coming at about 62 mph tops. There's no reason he should move.

except for the umpire isn't supposed to award a batter the base if he makes no effort to avoid the pitch.

What are you talking about? He turned away from the pitch and it hit him square in the back. To avoid it he would have had to have jumped on the plate.

he could have walked. he could have ducked. he could have leaned forward or back. He had a ton of options because that pitch was so slow. He instead chose the part of his body it struck.

He could have caught that thing bare handed

what's comical is how everyone buries rich hill when he's been the team's best starter this year. I'll take a guy with a top 10 WHIP in baseball. He's not having a great game today, but the overreaction in this thread is a lot funnier than anything I've written.

Well, I guess the goal for Hill now is to try to make it to the 6th, even if he doesn't make it through the 6th. Not allowing any more runs in that time frame would be good too.

Time to put up a bunch on Gallardo.

The 6th? The 3rd would be nice.

Normally I don't throw in the towel after the first inning, but given how meekly the team seems to react to getting punched in the mouth (especially when it counts), metaphorically speaking, I don't have much hope for this one.

No its like this every start Hill has. No pitch is bad no ball is hit hard. Its somebody elses fault everytime with you regarding Hill. Its getting pretty close to Hill and Z having the same amount of crap performances.

And when you give up 5 runs in the 1st inning, you should be buried for that day
