The offense has been decent tonight - hopefully the Cubs can push in two right now, because one definitely won't be enough.

 

If this goes to the tenth, is there a starter that can be brought in for his throw day?

Why the hell do you send Howry out there for the 3rd day in a row?? I know the bullpen is short but I'd think that there were better options out there.

It would have been Marmol and Ohman's 3rd day in a row also I believe. Wuertz and Eyre were already used.

 

When you have a 5-man bullpen, you don't have many options. I don't blame Lou completely. It was a 5-run lead and he wanted to avoid those guys going 3 days.

 

Exactly. I blame this on the players and Jim Hendry. Demp is HOPING to be back by Friday. Why not just DL him retrospective to whatever day he was injured and let him sit a few extra games. Better than rushing back and reinjuriing himself and in the meantime we don't have to deal with a 5 man pen consisting of a horrible pitcher and a LOOGY.

Why are you guys blaming this on the relievers or Lou? This loss goes squarely on Mike Fontenot for getting picked off 1st base in the 1st inning. He doesn't get picked off and this game is tied right now.
