Why the hell is Lou pulling double switches with a short bench in a close game? If this goes to extras we'll have pitchers, but no batters.

Has Lou done anything to show you he knows how to manage a bench in a close game?

Grace never put up a .413 OBP, and he put up a .500 SLG once.

Grace's best seasons were comparable to Lee's down season right now.

Lee isn't going to put up a .413 OBP this year. His numbers are plummetting, to the tune of a 750 OPS in June.

I don't think you can project numbers for the rest of the season based on a month. Players have good months and bad months.

Even if Rapada escapes this inning, Lou is stupid for putting a LOOGY in to face right handed hitters.

The brilliant pen management continues.

Rapada faced 1 batter, a lefty

???

I thought he came in to face a lefty?

He did. Ibanez is a lefty.

Very bad switch that time! Decent chance that FLoyd's spot could get up in the 9th.

Bad move

First you have to GET TO extras. And letting relievers bat isn't a good way to do that. Score the run first, worry about the remaining situation next.

Rapada came in to face Ibanez (a lefty) and then lefty for Howry to face Sexson (a righty).

It's funny that Lou knows Rapada is a LOOGY and he's had him on the team for a day. He's had Ohman all season and doesn't know Ohman's a LOOGY yet.

Lou hasn't done anything to show me he knows how to manage, period.

Though I'm sure he has plenty of apologists, he needs to get the axe. He's horrid.

Defensive upgrade to preserve the 1 run deficit.

Fortunately that won't be a problem, as the Cubs were done scoring after about 20 minutes of game time.

or just have a righty come in to get the 1 out here, and bring another of the 8 bullpen pitchers pitch the 9th.

I can project he won't maintain his numbers. He had a fluke start based off an insance BABIP that was unsustainable. He has not sustained it and his numbers are falling fast.

I edited my original post. My gameday either got goofy on me, or I got goofy on my gameday.

Either way I was wrong.

You pinch hit for the reliever if it gets there in the bottom of the inning. You don't take out our best damn bat today just because you have a weird double switch fetish.

Shouldn't you be thinking of a trade idea for Saltamacchia?

The best part with Dusty is he'd double switch with the pitcher up 4th or 5th next inning. Which you do if you plan on throwing the reliever another inning. But then he'd pull the guy anyway.

Yep this will be a mark grace season before it is done.
