Throw it back.

I won't be at that game, but I'd probably have to hold on to the ball if I were the lucky one. I would absolutely bring a spare ball to throw back though.

Awesome. We boo our own players routinely. Just imagine the reception Bonds will get.

If he's on the record, everyone should bring balls to throw back. And everyone should.

wouldn't the fame of destroying the ball generate more publicity and perhaps revenue than selling it? i mean, you'd go down in history as the guy who has the most important relic from the single most revered record in sports and you destroy it.

also, it should be noted that there's not a 50% chance he breaks it at wrigley, but a 50% chance that he has broken it by the time he leaves wrigley.

Hadn't thought about that angle, but yeah, I'd sell tickets to the destruction of Bond's homerun ball if I caught it.

That would be the one and only HR ball I would NOT throw back at Wrigley. I'd keep it and advertise it. See how much I could get for it, then take that price, and tell Bonds if he triples it he can have his ball back.

^^^

That's the correct answer.

Throwing it back would be the ultimate F U to Bonds. With that said, if someone actually did that they'd probably be braindead.

Or just incredibly principled. But there are ways to make money off the ball and give a big F U to Bonds. See several previous suggestions.

Am I the only person here who really doesnt care if Bonds breaks the record. No matter what it will always be questioned. I doubt that if it was anyone else there would be this much hatred. Lastly it really will show the powers to be in baseball that they really screwed up keeping a blind eye to what was obvious to most people.

He'll just be a placeholder for A-Rod anyway, so it doesn't really matter all that much.

I predict A-Rod breaks the new record before he turns 40.

The only way to ruin Bonds for good is for someone to pass out plastic syringes in the bleachers during the game, and for everyone to throw them around Bonds at once. They'd replay that forever on TV.

A friend and I were talking about this last week and it's very possible that we'll see three different HR kings within the next 15-20 years.

Bonds will break Aaron's record.

Arod will break Bonds record.

Then there is a decent chance that Pujols can come up and break Arod's record eventually.
