overall this was a nice realignment of available talent, one that might get the Cubs a little closer to fielding a quality pen while still boasting a strong top-to-bottom rotation.

I'm not sure how many people would agree, but that's the jist. It's a free article.

I do put some stock in that assessment, but maybe that's just me drinking the Cool Ade. Marshall has some potential to maybe pitch as well as a 3rd starter. If nothing else, we start a rotation of Zambrano and four three type starters. That has some potential, although it means we'll have to get about 4-5 runs a game to win. Maybe we can do that.[/url]

Christina Kahrl doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of BP. While everybody else maligns the moves we've made, she seems to defend most all of them.

Not really much of an analysis, with a bunch of "seems" "mights" and "ifs".

It's not entirely off the mark though. The issue I have is more about how they got here, and the motivation behind some of the moves. It's a lot of reshuffling without a lot of substance, trying to be passed off as big developments.

If his prospective stardom seems to suffer in comparison to Rich Hill's, the guy's still a lefty with a high-velocity sinker and good curve, and as fifth starters go, he's still pretty promising.

LOL!

That was actually in reference Marshall, but still doesn't make too much sense.

His sinker can get up to the upper 80s right? not bad for a lefty. And considering "velocity" is a quantum defining speed and direction (not just speed alone), I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

I've seen wildly varying reports on his sinker. Most reports I've seen have him between 89-91 on his sinker, with some reports claiming he can touch 95 at his upper limit with it. Just about every thing I've looked at has said the same thing though "power sinker" "hard sinker", etc.-so this scouting report isn't much different.

Who on earth said that? The same guys who said Brownlie threw a 97 MPH curve?

Here's one:

For most of the 2005 season, his fastball was sitting 89-91 mph but touched 95 several occasions.

I've seen others like that, so I'm not just going by the word of that source alone, but that's an example.

It's one thing to have your fastball touch 95, it's a completely different thing to have some sink action to it. I am dubious he's throwing any type of sinker anywhere close to 95.

I hear he throws a high-velocity changeup, too.

Yeah its got a bunch of movement on it too. Just ask Kouzmanoff.

woah, I had no idea Chris Kahrl was transgendered. I remember when he was on CLTV all the time (with our child-molesting friend Rob Goldberg). Now he is she? Cool

Rob Goldman's a child molestor?

Nevermind, found it on google.

I miss Lance McAllister.

right, goldman. Yeah, nailed in a police sting trying to pick up a teenage girl online
