so are still waiting for the other shoe to drop on marquis, or can we say that (for now) he and lilly were good acquisitions?

I dont see a lot of smoke and mirrors with these guys.

Cubs play better when I'm in the classroom.

Class ended almost 5 hours ago, and I'm still sitting here and still in uniform. I guess I can leave now.

Ahh that makes me happy. I predict the offense busting out tomorrow against Maholm to take the series.

I think so too. But I'm not gonna use my force powers this time.

I'll go on record as bitterly opposing the Marquis signing. I wanted Randy Wolf instead. I'm really, really glad to be wrong.

Is it possible that Marquis is for real?

Anyone who wins 42 games over the last three seasons can't be all bad.

or was on a team with a good offense

waitwaitwait, marquis has been good for a full month. He hasn't had any bad games. could he actually not suck for us?

Plenty of pitchers have gone the first half of seasons incredibly hot and still been terrible when all is said and done.

I'm happy that Marquis has given us a fantastic start to the season, in fact, I wouldn't have thought he'd give us 7 starts this good all year, but again, lets not get our hopes up. We always get let down.

11 Baserunners and only 1 run, :?

Hey, at least we got 11 baserunners in 8 innings. While not terribly impressive, it's not bad for the Cubs.

Also, we got our first complete game a lot earlier this season than last.

Thank god for our starting pitchers because our offense is terrible right now.

In their defense, the pitchers they've faced the last 2 days have been prettysolid all year. I don't like all the wasted oppotunities in game 1 of the series, but hey, sometimes the pitching picks up the O and sometimes the O makes up for the pitching.

Notes from the game:

We arrived 10 mins late and missed the only run of the game. I'd also like to point out that I called this on the way over to the game. If it wasn't for work....

Soriano hams it up a bit with the fans in left field. He looks like he enjoys being a Cub.

We ended up with really great seats. The bleachers were packed but we managed to find some seats 3 rows back in left field. I have never sat that close from the bleachers and it was really cool and a really good view. I may have changed my mind about the bleachers...

After the win, a bunch of people threw their beers onto the field. I don't know if this is some kind of bleacher tradition but I thought it was really lame. Not only were they trashing up the field, there was beer left in some of those cups.

I hate people sometimes.

those are probably the same people who get trashed at concerts and decide the best way to let the band know that they're having a good time is to throw their beer at the stage

It really pissed me off. It was a picture perfect night and the field looked beautiful. The Cubs just won. Why would you trash your own field after a win?
