what's with the sub of Murton Pie aint that much faster?

Really? I don't know for a fact, but I thought Pie was much faster than pretty much anyone else except Soriano.

I don't know that 1/100 of a second is going to make a difference in scoring, esp. with an unproven rookie.

Pie is much faster, and a much better defender. It's a perfectly justifiable move.

I'm all for the move for defense alone.

Murton's speed is underrated. His infield hit percentage was 7.9%, 25th in all of MLB last year and tied with Chone Figgins.

But yes, Pie is faster.

Is Dempster really in now? You're pretty much going to burn him up for today if you ask him to get 4 outs right now.

Is there really a significant difference between asking him to get three outs or four?

Magic 8-ball says not likely.

Now that is how you use Ohman. Now you take him out. Good move by Lou.

my thoughts exactly. and with the off day tommorow i have no problem with dempster getting 4 outs today.

Better to use him to get the win now than to wait, in my opinion. There's no way to know if the Cubs will be leading, if it'll be close, etc.

If Demp is going to get 4 outs here, then who is closing in the second game if it's close? I hope it's not the Eyre experience.

How about Wuertz.

I think he'll be fine. He didn't throw a lot of pitches to Paulino.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lou holds Wuertz til later in the game than he usually does.
