With an OPS well over 800, including an acceptable OBP. That average is meaningless.

Really? I don't know for a fact, but I thought Pie was much faster than pretty much anyone else except Soriano.

Though trying to clear the fence on every at-bat. Why!

 

He hit that ball well and it would have been out of any other part of the park.

I don't know that 1/100 of a second is going to make a difference in scoring, esp. with an unproven rookie.

I'd rather he just concentrate on making good contact, which it sounds like he did.

Pie is much faster, and a much better defender. It's a perfectly justifiable move.
