Ok, seriously, the DLee Power Apologists (LOL) need to stop. You are completely losing grip with reality. Until this day, he hasn't given a ball a ride at all.

He wont get close to 40 home runs (Likely wont touch 30 either) this year. That is an issue. But he will still be a valuable player.

I understand what you're saying, but the bolded statement isn't true. He crushed one the other day that the wind killed. Nonetheless, I won't begrudge those that are concerned about his power.

Crushed balls don't get killed by the wind. Plenty of opponents have managed to put the ball out into the wind this season. If the excuse is he can't power in through the wind, the sentiment remains the same.

My post was kind of sarcastic.

But yeah, his power isn't 2005 power, but we all knew that.

That I can agree with but I don't think many people really expected him to have that type of power again.

Not every Homer is crushed. The wind does take away homeruns.

Who cares if hes knocking the ball all over the place and his OPS is still .938 for the season.

I, and many others, assumed he'd be off his 2005 pace. But I was hoping he'd be above his 2000-2004 pace. That Derrek Lee was nothing special. His OPS currently has him somewhere between elite Derrek and second tier Derrek, but if the HR pace doesn't quicken, he'll probably fall back to the completely unimpressive Lee.

that ball was scalded

It could have been caught though, Floyd looks like a turtle in the OF right now.

probably doesn't want to get hurt with it being wet out there.

I'm pretty sure I covered that.

His OPS in 2005 was an insane 1.150 or something though.

Look, if he's still OBPing .400 and SLG .500+ then I'm happy.

Have you watched the games this year? They have been pitching him outside and low constantly, he's given the ball a ride about 7 to 10 times, and now has 1 HR. He also is hitting .378 on the year. I would say you'll see his power surge if people stop trying to get him out on the outer half of the plate. I woud say you'll see between 32-40 HR's for him sori, and rammy, which isn't bad at all.

I'm a little concerned about the .468 BABIP.

I don't see him falling off his pace too much. Will he hit .350 for the year? No. But his AB's look similar to the ones he had in 2005 in that he is hitting that inside pitch, and overall has great plate coverage as well as an above average pitch selection. I would say his BA drops to around .310 but his SLG goes up to .550 and his OBP would end up somewhere around .950 for the year.
