Hahahahaha. That's awesome.

Lou really doesn't care if you make millions or the league minimum.

His concern is who produces and who doesn't. I honestly thought he'd give Izzy a little more time, but I'm not complaining about the move.

Am I understanding right that he said in the postgame that Theriot's the new SS fulltime (or at least mostly)?

Yes, he said Theriot will start at SS.

Good news. Unlike many on here, I don't despise Izzy, but the fact is he's not doing anything productive right now and we can't afford it. Hopefully he'll contribute later, but right now I like Theriot at short.

Good move, Lou. :D

Lou: "Theriot will be at shortstop"

!!!!!!

Also says he fits in the 2-hole nicely.

That didn't come out quite right.

Sounds like a Jeanna Jameson film shoot.

Game Day says Lilly only gave up one earned run even though it doesn't show the Cubs committing an error. Are they counting the ball that scored on the groundout, after the pass ball, as unearned?

About time Lou! I'm one happy person now! See, this is the move Lou does that Dusty would never do. No way would Dusty pull Izturshi... for The Riot.

I despise him and I'm glad he will be benched. I actually hope he gets traded or released. Lou did the right thing and move Theriot to SS.

correct. The scorekeeper is assuming the guy wouldn't have scored from 2nd on the ground ball, and since he retired the next guy as well, it's unearned.

I wouldn't cut Izzy. He has value because of his (usually) excellent defense and thus would likely bring a decent return in a deadline trade. I doubt he'd bring a great deal, but likely enough to justify not cutting him.

Hey, no problem to me as long as he doesn't start I'm happy.

I'd be perfectly happy with Theriot starting everyday at SS and Izzy coming in as a defensive replacement with late leads. That allows him enough playing time to try to improve his trade value but not take too much from Theriot's production.

Not to be negative, but this win means nothing if we turn around and tank tomorrow.

Tomorrow's an offday.

Which just proves all the more that if they do tank, this win will be meaningless.

What if they get tanked?

i don't think i can handle getting demolished by the cardinals again

Yeah, we really got crushed last weekend, what was the combined score, something like 16-14 Cubs, man I hope we don't get slapped around like that again...

Yeah, but we still lost 2 of 3.

Its still somewhat meaningless...if we keep outscoring opponents, we're going to start winning games.

I just hope the Pitchers don't get all bummed about being time and time let down by the hitting and just stop giving a crap.

I agree. If our pitching holds up and we keep getting hits, we'll eventually win close games.

Another very solid pitching performance from Lilly. He's now given up just 8 earned runs (9 runs total) in 5 starts this year. =D>

He's been really, really good this year. Far better then I thought.

Hendry deserves some applause so far for Lilly, Marquis, and Derosa, all criticized signings.

I think I'll hold my applause until after the season. The Cubs suck right now. For that he deserves the door (if it continues).
