It's not fair to blame Cherry for tonight's loss. It was his major league debut; anybody would be nervous in that situation. Tonight's loss belongs to Eyre and, more so, the umpire that stole the game by calling Lee out when he was so obviously safe that even the Brewers' announcers said it was a terrible call. Cherry gets a pass on this one.

Yeah Rocky was thrown out to the wolves against the 2-3-4 hitters of a major league roster in extras. Can't really fault him for giving up a home run to Prince Fielder.

Let's dump Jones and his .361 OBP.

I know his SLG is atrocious but I'm sure that will come around.

I'm not ready to get rid of Jones until Murton and Pie show they can do something.

I was at the game sitting behind the Brewers bullpen. It was clear as day to me from all of the way across the field that he beat the throw, even moreso obvious that he beat the tag. I don't know how that guy missed that call. Simply horrible. MLB umping seems to be much worse than in years past. Selig needs to take action, but won't because he's too spineless.

We need Steve McMichael to "take care of" the umpire.

Wait, we're going to support Jones with his .361 (now .351) OBP in 70 ABs, even though his career OBP is .328, but his atrocious SLG in those same 70 ABs gets a pass (it's not like his career .458 OBP is enough to make up for his sub-.330 career OBP).

Oh, and Murton hasn't shown you anything yet? His .367 career OBP in roughly 630 ABs isn't cutting it for you (and we're quick to write off JJ's atrocious SLG to a slow start, but Murton's poor start means he hasn't done anything?)? On a team with a massive OBP problem, that .370 is just not going to get it done for you?

If some team is willing to pay anywhere near the value of JJ's .833 OPS from last year, we're crazy if we don't jump all over it and stick Murton in front of DLee (whether it be in LF or RF).

Z is to blame for the loss as well. I know he only gave up 2 runs, but he is supposed to be an ace. An ace takes you into the 7th or 8th inning and doesnt make your bullpen have to sustain a lead for 4 2/3 innings.

He got pulled after 5 1/3, that left the bullpen with 3 2/3 innings of relief. If you give up 2 runs in 3 2/3, that's a 5.40 ERA.

I agree he should have done more, but even if he gets 2 more outs, and finishes the 6th, that bullpen could have easily blown the lead.

If there was any doubt about who might start Tuesday in place of demoted/disabled fifth starter Wade Miller, general manager Jim Hendry cleared that up by saying it would be Angel Guzman, regardless of his results Thursday in a start for Iowa. ''He earned that when he was here,'' Hendry said of the right-hander with a 2.45 ERA in 7 1/3 innings

Hendry said previously that Guzman being recalled for the May 1 start was contingent on pitching well in his next MiL start. So, now we know it will be Guzman against PIT.

Good to hear. They should give him the courtesy of giving him at least 3 starts like they did Miller, and he probably then has a better than average chance of staying if they do that.

I think Guzman will be here to stay. He could hardly do worse than Miller, and his upside is a heck of a lot better.

With Theriot as the new SS, I think it's a lock Ronny goes down for Angel.

Wow, I didn't realize they were such close teammates.
