This has been said, but Jesus, they couldn't score once with men on the corners and the middle of the order at bat? All they had to do was hit the ball on the ground and Jacques couldn't even do that.

Tell me about it....got men on first and 3rd, and couldn't score off Kyle "FRIGGIN" Lohse. I think Gerald Perry is an alias of either Gary Matthews, Jr, or whoever the BC was last yr.

why didn't Quade send Soriano on Riot's single??

Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up.

it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score

He would have been out by 20 feet. The ball was hit too hard.

No he would't have. The Reds were conceeding the run, Freel didn't even throw to the plate. The Reds announcers said the same thing; they were surprised he didn't score.

dude, you're wrong. just move on.

No I'm not. Even the Reds guys were surprised he didn't score.

In a game where runs are at a premium he should have been sent.

Soriano would've been meat at the plate. Freel didn't throw it home because Theriot would've probably tried to take 2nd on the throw.

Yes as angry as I am now, I would be even more so had we tried to score sori there and he been out.

I thought he did throw home but the throw was cut off at the pitchers mound.

It was Gary Matthews, Sr. Jr. was playing CF for the Rangers last year.

he would have been out by 20 feet, and he couldn't see into the future to know that jones and lee were going to choke.

A better question would be why was Jacque batting third. He is a terrible, terrible hitter.

he's not THAT bad.

You show me a team Jacque Jones is batting third on and I will show you a team that picks in the first five of the draft the next year.

He's no #3, but he isn't terrible. There is a difference. I'm not sure what made Piniella bat him 3rd, though.

Freel was conceeding the run--trying to keep Theriot at 1B by throwing into 2B.

You mean the cutoff man?

And where's Jeff Samardzija?!

Freel had the ball by the time Soriano made it to third. If the throw home was close, Soriano is out by at least 10 feet.

you're absolutely, 100% wrong...i just ran it back and watched it again. freel threw to the cutoff man. he was preparing to throw the ball all the way home, but he saw that soriano was being held, so he let up and threw it in to the cutoff man.

The rule of thumb that 3rd base coaches uses is this: If the ball gets to the OFer (in this case the CFer) before the runner even gets to third you hold the runner up. In this case Soriano was a good 3 steps away from 3rd when the ball got to Freel. Holding Soriano up there was the good call.

Yeah, I don't think you can fault Quade for not wanting to risk a baserunner on third with nobody out and the best hitters in the lineup at bat.

none of those guys have gotten a hit today.

Huh? What does Samardzija have to do with anything?

Guess I'll need to start rooting for Jacque's hammy to tear....

You're a terrible fan if that's the case.

And yours, too.

Quade did it right. Jacque and Lee are at fault here.
