  1. Does anybody know what is going on with Lee as to why his "power" is gone? Could it be that his wrist isn't 100% regardless of what Lee says (and that is one thing I remember, is the Cubs and their players not being truthful when it comes to injuries)? Personally, I would like for Derrek Lee to skip the ASG and work on his swing for the 3 days. I mean if the Cubs are going to catch and pass the Brewers, Lee's needs to get his power back.
  2. I also heard that Bowden also talked about Matt Harrison and Brandon James in any deal for Young? I mean, come on...Bowden you CAN'T BE THAT STUPID. I remember when he wanted both Juan Cruz and Corey Patterson for Pokey Reese, but these rumors are borderline insane.
  3. This "petty" bickering by MLB to ESPN is crazy. But it is the definition of what Selig's legacy to baseball will be.
  4. Agreed. The one thing I didn't miss while I was on sabbatical from anything Cub related was this "Adam Dunn" talk. I wish the Reds would just trade him to the AL, and get it over with.
  5. Nefti Perez took "something" that was illegal in baseball, and it didn't help his stats? If I am Nefti, I demand a refund.
  6. 5 months... -Cubs had a good Spring Training. (Above .500) -Mark Prior is out for the season after a surgery revealing his problem. -Wade Miller made the team out of ST but it was all downhill from there. Now he's struggling to make it back to the majors as he can barely hit 80mph on his fastball. - Alfonso Soriano got off to a slow start. He's been hot lately and got the player of the month in June. - Felix Pie has his ups and downs. - Theriot and Fontenot are amazing. - Jacque Jones still sucks and has only 2 HR on the season. Is on a pace for 4. Anyone else wanna continue? Let's put it this way, I LOST ALL TRACK of baseball during those five months. Seriously, after last yr, I just stop not caring about baseball. And I am on this board again, because a co-worker of mine, (a Cub fan, no less) told me the Cubs HAD won 7 games in a row. So naturally I thought he was joking, so I paid him no mind. So, as I was finishing up some work on the computer, I figure what the heck, and I checked in on this board. And just reading some previous threads, I must say I am SHOCKED, shocked about has happen this. So, while the Cubs fan in me is smiling at the moment, I am trying to keep myself from having too much hope. I've save that for later. So I went back to my co-worker, and he filled me in on some "incidents" that has happen? He told me: Barrett and Z had a fight, am I correct? And Barrett is no longer with the Cubs? ARam hits a homerun, and the Cubs win a game in which they gave up a big lead in the ninth? Am I correct, that these eye opening incidents have happen? Cause I am trying to soak in eveyrthing that has happen, and to say I am in a state of shock, is mindboggling. So, forgive my ignorance---I've move to a cabin in the woods, to get away from cable, and I am the computer that is my livlihood---in the words of Vince Lombardi: "What the heck is going on here?
  7. It's been about 5 months, since I last check into the Cubs, and this board.....is there anything I missed that is significance?
  8. That because the Cubs got their hits off of "Method Man." D'uh..
  9. But if we won that would be 2 in a row... DOES NOT COMPUTE! Hey now....when did Bender become a Cub fan?
  10. I don't hate/dislike/disdain the young man because of his past, but doesn't mean I care enough to "pull for him." Hamilton put himself in that situation, so I don't give a crap about "his story."
  11. I wonder if Brett Myers said or did anything towards Manuel that got him demotion. I mean NO MANAGER with an active brain cell, would move his opening day starter to the bullpen before the first month of play is over. Manuel is desparate, cause he know he isn't going to be keeping his job for long.
  12. The Red Sox and the Yankees are playing this weekend? I................................DID NOT...................KNOW........THAT. (ok, ok, sarcdasm at my finest) Bristol still thinks anybody outside of the Northeast, gives a crap about the "Evil Empire .v. The Borg" .
  13. Of course that's the plan. First: The Heat can't beat the Bulls in Chicago (2-9 in the playoffs in Chicago, if I am remember correctly) Second: Some of Wade's worst games as a professional came at the UC. Third: Shaq lost his Pro Boxing Career debut to Brad "Thriller" Miller at the UC. Fourth: Pat Riley won't have his "thug" James Posey at his deposal. Fifth: The Heat are a year older, slower, and worse this yr (Wade won't be too much of a factor, especially if the Bulls get him to think about his shoulder injury) then last yr's version. Whereas the Bulls this yr is considerably better. So, I expect the Bulls to win this series in 5.
  14. Mostly youngsters and some career journeymen (Yates in this group). Their payroll has dropped drastically the past few years giving them the need to try to catch lightning in the bottle. well clearly no one goes to their games anymore The Braves have a pretty good team. The rotation after Smoltz and Hudson is pretty weak. Offense and bullpen are nice, though. Chuck James is very solid, a better pitcher then Horatio Ramirez. And Kyle Davis has a chance to be a very solid #4-5 pitcher in the majos. So, I would call the pitchers after Smoltz/Hudson "pretty weak", but I wouldn't call them a "strength" in 2007, either.
  15. 190 We won't have an official weight until the combine, but my guess is closer to 190 than 220. Definately, Durant REALLY needs to add alot of muscle in the next few yrs, cause right now he looks like Keith Closs, physically. Well, as long as it's not like Kate Moss... Well. physically, Durant is THE MALE Kate Moss.
  16. He doesn't turn 19 until the end of September. He'll fill out, and he'll score 18-20 PPG as a rookie next year. IDK about that. If Durant ends up on a team like say the Bulls, via the Knicks, or perhaps even the Hawks, he may not get enough minutes---dispite his talent---to get 18-20 ppg. Now if it is a team like Boston, or Philly, then all bets are off.
  17. I never understood why the Reds haven't done a Junior/Freel/Hamilton OFer, with Dunn at 1st base. I mean there is two others players that I've seen that have been worse OFers then Dunn; Todd Hundley and Lance Berkman. Obviously, the aboveforementioned would give the Reds a better chance to win, over having Conine and/or Hatte in the lineup.
  18. 190 We won't have an official weight until the combine, but my guess is closer to 190 than 220. Definately, Durant REALLY needs to add alot of muscle in the next few yrs, cause right now he looks like Keith Closs, physically.
  19. The same way they won their first day game and their first home game this year? sorry Well.... we haven't lost a night game yet this season !! Kerry Wood and Mark Prior haven't given up any hits, walks, runs or homeruns yet either. They're neck-and-neck for CYA !! Or should I say, shoulder to shoulder? Someon needs to fetch Henry Rosenbooger, Henry Rottengarder, Hen----heck....the kid with the "golden arm." If need be bring "The Rocket" Gary Busey, with him.
  20. Not to mention, according to Tim Duncan---who btw has earned the right to be given the benefit of the doubt---Joey Crawford was trying to goat Tim Duncan into a fight. And IMO, if that is true, then Crawford should be suspended for the rest of the yr (playoffs included) for trying to initate a fight. What Joey Crawford did, was beyond dispicable.
  21. I say Philly DOES INDEED beat Cleveland, cause I believe 6ers are a better team then most are giving credit for. They were left for dead when they dealt AI, and since then has gone 29-28. So to automatically assume Cleveland is going to win against Philly, is a wrong state mind to be in. I say 6ers will beat Cleveland.
  22. On Jackie Robinson Day, the Cubs find another way to lose a perfectically winnable game. Ted Lilly are you now regretting your decisiont o leave Toronto for this crap?
  23. The Cubs are about to lose 4 of their first 6 games at home to start the season. (Pretty sure if it wasn't for the postponed third game against the Stros, the Cubs would have been swept) Doesn't that just make you feel all tingling after what the Cubs did in the offseason. The Cubs players needs to "man up" and stop playing like first yr t-ballers. Yeah, I know what you mean. We should call the whole season a waste because we will lose 4 games at home, three without an all-star batter in the lineup. Heck, why would we want to cheer on the fact Cubs pitchers have given up one run in the last 22 innings? What good is the pitching, if the team can't score? Good pitching in a loss, the game is still a loss. I give dap to the pitcher's for doing their jobs, but eventually the pitching is going to flattened out, so the offense is going to need to find the right end of the bat to use.
  24. Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up. it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score The rule of thumb that 3rd base coaches uses is this: If the ball gets to the OFer (in this case the CFer) before the runner even gets to third you hold the runner up. In this case Soriano was a good 3 steps away from 3rd when the ball got to Freel. Holding Soriano up there was the good call. Yeah, I don't think you can fault Quade for not wanting to risk a baserunner on third with nobody out and the best hitters in the lineup at bat. none of those guys have gotten a hit today. give me a break. freel threw home and it was cut off because soriano was standing on 3rd. Give me a break, they should have forced the action when runs are scare. Force them to make a good throw. Quade sent Theriot is a similar situation in MIL (the CF had the ball and if it hadn't been for a great slide he was out). whatever...you're just mad b/c the cubs didn't score. you weren't saying crap about it until it looked like the cubs weren't going to score. making the first out at home with no outs and the heart of the order coming up in a 1-0 game is about as stupid as it gets. That's not true. I said it at the time. My post didn't come after the inning was over. As soon as Theriot hit the ball, I thought Soriano would tie the game. There's no guarantee he would have been out. There is also nothing wrong with forcing them to make perfect throws. And if Soriano gets thrown out at homeplate, you would be complaining that Quade is the new "Wavin' Wendall." There is a time and place to "forced the OFer to make the throw", but in the fifth inning, with the middle of the order coming up, is NOT that time.
