Z needs to learn to pitch to contact. Hes ALWAYS trying to strike people out. If he could pitch to contact, he'd last longer in games, thus getting better numbers.

if he pitched to contact without trying to k people, i bet he'd put up worse numbers

That last batter was a good example. He worked it to a 3-2 count, by trying to hit those corners, instead of maybe throwing him a fastball when its 2-2, and getting him to bite.

I don't know, a guy like sheets gets his K's, but he never walks people. I think he might have a better approach then Z.

I'm in Milwaukee stuck watching FSN Wisconsin. They just quoted Sheets an inning ago, where Sheets says he tries to strike out every batter. He and Z have the same goalwith every at bat, Sheets just his his spots better.

zambrano isn't ben sheets.

Thats fairly obvious, but don't you think that all the successful pitchers in history have similar mental concepts of getting hitters out? I'm a huge fan of Z, but there's a reason why he hasen't approached an elite Cy Young status type of pitcher. I think one of the reasons, is his mental approach to the game.

he is what he is. ben sheets is capable of striking out a lot of guys without walking a ton of guys. he's rare. zambrano strikes out a lot of guys, but also walks a lot of guys. that's not so rare.

it's not as easy as z simply taking a ben sheets approach, and then all his problems will go away. he's going to walk people, period.

Izturis's arm is much more Ecksteinish than I remember.

Did he have TJ surgery or was he just rehabbing an injury?

6 pitch inning, 35 through 3!

this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened this year. If it happens too much more, I may come to expect it every now and then. It's so scary raising expectations of this team.
