Not sure if it's been posted yet since I've been out of this thread for a while (if it has been, just ignore it.), but ESPN's bottom line just said that the NFL fined Reggie Bush $5,000 for taunting Urlacher.

Seemed a little excessive to me, but hey, he shouldn't have done it.

Wow, thats actually pretty lame. All he did was point back.

Who really made a big deal about the taunting? Christ. I mean 5,000 to Reggie Bush is pocket change, but its still pretty ridiculous.

If he had another year of eligibility, he'd be able to go back to college and make up that money in no time.

We'll see how nonchalant Reggie is when they strip the Heisman from his mantle. The innocent, good-guy days of Mr. Bush are about to come to an end. He's was whoring himself out against NCAA rules for his entire college career.

Why the Reggie hate? I hate to break it to you, but he's not the only player in College Football getting paid.

What hate? Just because I'm pointing out facts about the guy that show him in a less-than-favorite light doesn't mean I hate the guy.

As for the "everyone's doing it" theory, I'll never buy into that. Strip anyone who's caught of their eligibility. I'm not on a Reggie-only crusade.

Colts showing more focus early. They're not arriving in Miami until Monday, have curfews set for every day, and have already gone through their game prep last week.

Bears treating it like a typical SB trip: light practice last week, arriving Sunday, no curfews that I've heard about, and won't start installing their gameplan until after media day (or so I'm hearing).

I think I like the Colts approach better. Some people go to South Beach and never come back.

I doubt this will make any difference whatsoever.

Its not so much on when they choose their gameplan, but what they gameplan their plays to be. And we'll see their ability to execute on Sunday.

I suppose. Wasn't there a player who never showed for the actual game last time the Super Bowl was in Miami?

I'll always worry about that kind of stuff. Young guys, on top of the world---temptation can derail someone double quick.

Barrett Robbins. He had a very serious mental illness.

Yeah---then there was that Atlanta CB who got picked up with a hooker

Sorry I'm not remembering names very well today.

I'd very much just like to get to the game with both teams intact and focused, ready to play. That way it becomes about the football game instead of some weird off-the-field issue.

And Packer fans treated that as some vindication for not retaining him, completely disregarding the fact that the man was starting for a super bowl bound team while their team was watching the game on tv like the rest of us... sorry I hate the packers so much it must bleed into my super bowl talk.

He got some sort of sportsmanship award the day before that happened.

Here is a question for everyone, but let me tell the story first:

A fellow classmate said to me, when seeing me wearing my prized Neal Anderson jersey, "aren't you from Wisconsin?" I replied I was. He then said, "See I hate people like you, why don't you root for your 'own' team, just because 'your' team sucks doesn't mean you can root for ours" I thought he was kidding at first, so I decided to accommodate him by asking who could root for the Bears then. He said "I think if you haven't lived in Chicago for at least a year, you shouldn't be able to root for them." I noticed that he looked dead serious, so I started to feel that burning feeling of rage, but I asked him, calmly, so you don't think I should be able to root for the Bears? He replies, "Well, I just think it is crap that people all of a sudden root for the Bears because they are going to Super Bowl." He ended this conversation by saying "That is pretty cool Payton jersey"

Now here is my question: Should I kill this kid or what?

Nah, ignorance is bliss. Not much you can do in that situation.

Here in Indiana, there is a contingent of Colts fans who seem to feel like anyone in the state who is still a Bears fan is somehow a traitor or whatnot . Nevermind the fact that the Colts didn't move here until 1984 and the Bears have existed since 1919. Those people need to be stabbed with plastic forks.

Besides, I've grown to like the Colts as my favorite AFC team. I usually pull for them but not when they play the Bears! 8-)

But fortunately, Fort Wayne has remained primarily Bears country. The local FOX station put out an advertisement congratulating the Bears on their great season. :D

HA HA, I knew a writer wouldn't be able to resist this one. Here's the #2 storyline from a FOX Sports column:

Regarding the difference in how the Colts and Bears are approaching their arrival and preparations for Super Bowl week, I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like either team has been here before. Dungy has never led his team to a Super Bowl so he is just taking the approach he thinks makes sense. Likewise with Lovie Smith.

Barrett Robbins was bi-polar, his Super Bowl experience wouldn't have mattered regardless of what the Raiders may have done. And btw that game was played in San Diego not Miami. Didn't Robbins end up passed out in Tijuana or some such place?

My only concern is Tank Johnson for obvious reasons but I'd have to think the team will take every measure to prevent him from getting in trouble.

Speaking of trouble, didn't the 1985 team go completely wild and enjoy the Super Bowl experience in New Orleans? Or for another example you can look at the Raiders-Eagles Super Bowl back in the early 80's. The Raiders lived it up and had a good time. The Eagles played it strict and to the vest. The final result worked out for Oakland. 8-)

I think that was Jaws' team too, right? He said something about that today---that they were in strict lockdown and it didn't make any difference they still lost.

If the guys go out tonight and maybe tomorrow and live it up a little, I don't think it's going to matter. I just don't want to get to Thursday and hear someone got bailed out of jail, or players have been showing up late for meetings or that kind of crap.

I actually don't want it to happen for either team.

You win that Super Bowl and the rest of your life you can party.

The Raiders-Bucs Super Bowl was played in San Diego.

lol, why are you making such a big deal of this? I highly doubt what they do at night will really matter.

DirecTV HD subscribers: turn on channel 95. NFL Network crew is doing their first show from Miami in HD. Urlacher interview was just on. Wow---lots of background questions: where are you from, what was it like as a kid, what's it like being in the same line of linebackers as Butkus and Singletary, etc.

Lots of stuff you would expect from reporters who haven't covered football very much.

I'm not suprised at being laughed at a little on this (I'm a big boy I can take it).

I seriously think this is one of those things that nobody will speak about, but has the potential to have an impact if one of the teams gets too lose down there. It's happened before...
