A really nice article about Urlacherwith some quotes from Butkus.

Just reading the title got me thinking though, I don't think Urlacher has a Hall of Fame spot yet.

We'll see. He needs about 3 more really high quality years, and thats never a guarantee in the NFL.

If they win the SB and he plays well, he'd get in with nothing else.

Oh man... Grossman accused the reporters of just wanting to sell newspapers and basically sensationalizing stories. Called them "ignorant."

I love it. I really do, because, for the most part, it's the truth.

The very same press is going to hammer him tommorow, though.

Press availability ended today. Where did you see this? I saw him in an interview this morning and he looked alright. Maybe he was just sleepy 8-)

Was this just on ESPN or something? Are the quotes on the net somewhere?

It happened today. He said it this morning...they just played the audio clip on the radio.

Lovie also shot back at the press when they asked him about the Rex criticism...he more or less responded, "The criticism is what it is, next question." Rex might've taken a cue from Lovie.

Of course, they might've just been tired, like you said. Either way, I like it.

Hmmmm...I saw the Lovie thing live, and I wouldn't characterize it as "shooting back." He simply declined to answer the question, and that was it.

A really nice article about Urlacherwith some quotes from Butkus.

Some of those quotes from Butkus irk me

Butkus has taken some heat in the past for wishing out loud that Urlacher would hit harder.

"I got in a little trouble," Butkus said. "But they didn't follow that up and give the reason I said that. I just thought when he has the chance or the opportunity avails itself to really hit people, because what that does is make the ball carrier think about getting hit and start protecting himself. Somewhere along the line, you hope he forgets about holding the ball."

What was the avg size of an offensive lineman when Butkus played? 250-260? What was the avg size of a RB? 180-190?

Urlacher is going up againts athletes alot bigger than Butkus faced.

I have to admit that I have found myself thinking the same thing from time to time. It's probably just not his style, but Brian doesn't seem to relish punishing guys like others around the league. I too would like to see him really obliterate guys more often.

However, I don't think this makes Urlacher any less of a player, and I think he is the best LB in the game.

Also, I don't think relative player size has anything to do with what Butkus said. There are smaller, slower guys who are more notorious hitters. John Lynch, for example.

Or he doesn't like getting unnecessary roughness penalties. The game has changed since Butkus' time in more ways than player size.

The last line from Bill Simmons article today.

I haven't run into one person who thinks the Bears can win on Sunday. Not one.

From Don Banks article:

I don't know who the Bears ticked off in the league office. Talk about your NFC inferiority complex. Chicago's team hotel this week is the Hilton Miami Airport, and as any seasoned traveler knows, any time airport is mentioned somewhere in the name of your hotel, you're not in for five-star treatment.

The Colts have considerably nicer digs at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, which is located on a beautiful spot along the Atlantic shore. Resort and beach are always words you want in your hotel's formal name.

Good. It'll make it that much sweeter.

Does it make up for it that I have??? About 12 to be exact. (Members of my family count as people).

Its kinda an absurd thing to say. While they deserve to be underdogs, perhaps even 7 point dogs, that is by no means saying they "have no chance."

These guys are repeating history over and over again. The Cardinals couldn't beat any AL team. The Gators couldn't beat the mighty Buckeyes. ( :( ) The mighty Rams couldn't be beaten by the Patriots. The Patriots were what, 14 point dogs?

The thing is people don't understand how match ups are going to work out. The Colts offensive line could possibly be completely over matched or something. Sometimes the better team can have a weakness that easily exploited by a team geared towards that weakness. Random things can happen.

And its one game. There are plenty of things that can happen, even barring a major injury, that would induce a Bears victory. Does anyone really honestly think the Bears are completely overmatched in this? I think thats a poor assesment. The Bears could be blown out, but I honestly don't think they don't even have a boxers shot in this.

Just about every sports journalist still believes that a single game should be won by the best team and should determine the best team. So if they think one team is better, they'll give the other team little or no chance of winning. Pretty stupid, but it works for them.

god I tried reading some Bill Simmons, I really did. But this is about how far I got before I had an aneurysm:

"I want to see this framed photo of Kyle Orton and Brian Griese hanging in a Chicago art gallery along with the caption, "We can't believe one of us isn't starting over Rex Grossman."

HURRRRRRR

REX GROSSMAN JOKES FUNNY FUNNY HURRRRRR

I actually thought that article was funny. It makes fun of all the obvious jokes, both Bears and Colts-he wasn't trying to be really serious.

No, I'm not going to go with the flow and enjoy it. Going with the flow means admitting that Rex Grossman is the worst quarterback to ever set foot on a football field.

The criticism was ridiculous 2 months ago. Its even moreso after playing well in 2 playoff games and getting to the Superbowl.

Enough. I'm pissed.

I'm confused, but I'll edit it anyway just to be safe-thanks.

How can someone get in trouble for telling someone to "go with the flow"?
