Screw Bill Gates and screw XBox..He shouldve never entered the japanese market where he dosent belong...

What does that even mean?

Bill Gates entered into a industry where he does not belong...Hes a computer guy..He has no buisness entering a industry that is run by the Japanese..There should only be Nintendo and Sony..The first XBox,complete failure,Looked like a VCR,Ugly controller, pretty poor game selection except for Halo and a few others...Its pretty much like cars to sum it up...Toyota,Honda,Mitsubishi,Are the top cars on the market, all Japanese, because they last forever, break down half as much as an american car..Then you got Gates.who is like, General Motors, producing crap that cant even compare..Bottom line, Japanese are better than us with cars and electronics..We can try, but well never overtake them, the guy is should stick to making PC's and stuff he knows, not something the japanese are masters of

It sounds like you just don't like Bill Gates.

Are you aware that every Japanese company you named, save for Honda, has been tarnished in recent times by quality issues and/or general boneheadedness?

I'm sure that Gates and GM are brokenhearted over the results of your expert analysis.

360 because I find "Wii" to be an extremely annoying name.

I'll still never figure out why they changed it from "Revolution." That had a much better ring to it.

I'm a PS guy myself, but I do have a 360 in my apartment, and I must admit, it's pretty sweet. And from what I've heard, Nintendo knew they wouldn't be able to compete graphically with PS3 and 360, so they didn't bother improving much on the Gamecube. Just came up with the weird controller thing and a few new games.

Just my opinion, but I see the Wii going down the same road as the Dreamcast and Sega Saturn. Gamecube struggled to compete, and with PS3 and 360 doing so well, I don't see how the Wii can make it.

i voted 360 because of gears of war and guitar hero 2, but really, you can't go wrong with either one... it's just a matter of personal preference.

the Wii is equal/slightly better than the regular xbox in terms of graphical power.

check nexgenwars.com. i can't check it right now, but i'm quite confident that the Wii is dominating the PS3 in sales. the Wii had just as many or more people line up for it. since the PS3 had all of the negative news with it (the shootings, muggings, etc), mainstream news didn't make much mention of it.

also, nintendo is the only company that profited in the previous generation. sony and microsoft lost money with the xbox and ps2. they make their money off of the games, not the consoles. saying that the gamecube stuggled to compete is a bit erroneous.

You are correct that the Wii has outsold the PS3 so far. 680,000 to about 337,000 in North America. Wii sales are expected to hit 1 million in a couple of weeks. BTW, nextgen has the 360 at almost 8 million sales after a year.

Unless you want the same games recycled for the 500th time, go for the Wii.

That's part of why I would lean toward wii.

Nintendo may not have the best graphics, but they always managed to come up with really creative games. I feel like the majority of the games out there are covert-ops first person shooters, racing games, or sports titles. They're fun, but you need other stuff sometimes.

Exactly. And not only is Nintendo going to have some different games, now they have a new way to play the covert-ops FPS and sports games which will add to the games.

I know this is a 360 vs. Wii discussion, butthe mention of going "old school" reminded me of this:

Wii vs. PS3 vs. NES

As for my opinion, I don't have either, but I want a 360 more than a Wii. Why? Because the 360 has Dead Rising, and nothing is cooler than killing zombies in a mall, modeled after one of the greatest horror flicks of all time, Dawn of the Dead.

I'm kind of a zombie freak though, so take that with a grain of salt.

If you have an up to date gaming PC get a Wii. If your PC is lacking and you enjoy playing shooters get a 360. IMHO most of the good XBOX/XBOX360 games are shooters which have much better gameplay on a PC.

I actually think that the Wii may prove to be a better vehicle for FPS games than the PS3 or the 360. It's true that lately the genre has become the poster boy for cutting-edge graphics and physics -- the main selling point for Sony and Microsoft but a drawback for Nintendo -- but nice eye candy doesn't ensure a fun gaming experience. Every experience I've had with a console shooter has been frustrating at best, and what made it frustrating was the control scheme. Call me a purist, but a couple of analog sticks don't give you anywhere near the precision/control of the keyboard/mouse setup on PCs.

This is where the Wii comes in; I think the nunchuck/wiimote combo could be a great substitute for the PC controls of shooters provided it works as I envision it. Sure it won't look as pretty as on a PS3 or XBox, but I'll take intuitive, fun and dated over clumsy, frustrating, and pretty any day of the week.

That being said, I'll concur with your first sentence. A decent gaming PC + a Wii is probably the setup Ill end up choosing when I decide to join the next generation of console owners.

I couldn't agree more with the bolded part. If Halo was on a PC I would be much, much, much better. Instead, I get invited to play and get owned (pwn3d). I'm interesting in trying out a wii to see how responsive the controlers are.

1. With a few exceptions (Resident Evil), Nintendo systems tend not to support M-Rated games (thus some people calling it too cartoony, a kiddie machine, etc.)

2. How can anyone say that Nintendo doesn't recycle games over and over? Most creative? How many versions of Mario Party, MarioKart, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Smash Brothers and Zelda do we need?

I'm sorry, Zelda is one of the greatest franchises of all time. Ocarina of Time is easily my favorite game of all-time. How many versions of GTA, Sonic, Halo, DOA, etc. do we need? You can say that about any of the three companies.

MarioKart is the greatest video game franchise of all time. I've considered buying an N64 just to get MarioKart 64 because of it's sheer awesomeness.

Mario Party was also amazing before they got too carried away with the different modes and stuff. No one ever really wants to play any way but regular.

I have Dead Rising, and it is hours and hours of non stop entertainment.

PS2 had 62% of the market share. XBox had 21% of the market share. I'd say Gamecube struggled to compete. That article is from 2003, but if you search, I'm sure you'll see that even more recently, PS2 and XBox controlled the market. Gamecube profited from their system, but they didn't sell nearly as many systems or games as the other two.

And I might be mistaken, but didn't the PS3 only release a few hundred thousand units? Could it be that the Wii is beating them in sales simply because they released more and there is more opportunity to get one?

Go for the Wii. I got one at launch and I've had just had the best time playing it with my friends and family. It was a huge hit at thanksgiving with my family and all of my friends that have tried it out have loved it.

Nintendo has definately got a good thing going. I can't wait to see where they take it in the next couple of years.

is it nintendo's fault that sony is an incompetent company and is only going to sell 400,000 units in north america this year? if nintendo released the same amount of units, i guarantee they would sell out just as quickly (actually, they have sold out just as quickly, even with more units).

the ps2's year head start on the xbox and gamecube played a large factor in its market share.

Yeah, it's not like the Wii is readily available anyway. There are still plenty of people that are waiting to get their hands on one in the next shipment.

It will be interesting to see if the 360 will have the same advantage by releasing early. Almost 8 million units in a year is pretty good, and it will be interesting to see if the other 2 systems can match that number in the next year. I don't think the Playstation 3 will get there-the Wii has a decent chance, but I'm not sure they will either.
