If the Alamo Bowl selects Kansas State or Texas Tech ahead of Missouri, I'm gonna be very upset. Missouri beat both of those teams and has 25 players from texas, including Chase Daniel, a legend in Texas. And I dont wanna hear any crap about not traveling well, because if other schools went through the crap that Mizzou went through, they'd travel like crap too. And by the way, when Missouri played in Shreveport Louisiana, we brought around 13 to 14 thousand people. I really hope they don't screw us. Take Texas or Texas A&M, but not those other two schools.

I just want Kansas to make a bowl game - only because their coach is a really bad fatty.

No way. Guys like your friend Toledo Tom there, Ralph Friedgen, Andy Reid and Rick Majerus, those are fat coaches. Mangino is in a whole other league. He may be the fattest man in sports!

It should be Ohio State and Michigan comon losing to OSU by three in Columbus drops you.

Listen to what frank Duford says about it in his commentary on NPR. I definetly agree.

Once again:

That game should never have been that close.

Ohio State thoroughly dominated the game, and if not for Troy Smith fumbling a snap and Doug Datish completely botching another, Ohio State wins the game by 13 or 17 and we're not even having this discussion.

but they did, so it was that close. As they say, if the Queen had balls...

The point is, it's not like Michigan played well enough to force a rematch. OSU just played imperfectly enough to keep the game close.

I am on record not supporting a remach. However, your logic in this case is completely flawed.

Teams don't get awarded style points. OSU dominated the game as they have every other game this year, but it was still close, and that is all that matters.

The argument I like best for why Michigan shouldn't play - say they win in the championship game. Then they're the champions. They already played like six weeks prior and Michigan lost, so the teams are 1-1 against each other. So why does Michigan deserve to be the champs? Have they really proven that they're better than Ohio State? Nope.

3 cheers for Rice and their first bowl game in 40 something years!!!

Does anyone know where and who the Big East teams are playing?

Specific Big East teams? That can't be decided yet-it will depend on which one and how many Big East teams make the BCS and if ND makes the BCS. Both of those decisions will affect the order of the Big East bowl games all the way down.

I don't see how anybody can support that arguement. It's absurd. The winner of the championship game is the champion. What if the other contender for #2 in the nation already lost to OSU earlier? Would they not deserve a chance? Don't teams from conferences with championship games sometimes play twice in a year? Why would the conference championship game winner be the conf champ if they lost to them earlier in the year? And with the outcry for a playoff, wouldn't that result in the occasional rematch? Would the winner of said playoff not be the champion because they lost earlier?

That's right....I had a brain lapse here and thought the season was over, well it is for my team. Thanks.

Of course they do. Teams that win impressively are often moved ahead of teams that don't win impressively. This in turn effects the BCS. The same goes for losses. If someone beleives that Michigan didn't play as well as the score indicated, then sure, it does matter.

If the two teams had played in like week 3, I'd say OK, because obviously a lot can change (i.e., Arkansas is a lot better than they were when they faced USC). But it's the LAST GAME EACH TEAM PLAYED. Nothing has changed. Michigan had their chance and they lost. Now let USC or Florida play for it, provided they win out.

Exactly. Teams can win close games and have pretty well controlled it. Michigan/Ball State, the Cards got to the 2 yard line with a chance to tie, but Michigan led almost the whole game and by as many as 15. Michigan/Penn State, only a 7-point margin, but did anyone really think Penn State was going to win that game at any point during it? Heck, Ohio State/ND last year was markedly similar to the OSU/Mich game this year in that OSU outplayed the opponent significantly but made a couple of mistakes to allow the other team back in it. The only difference is that they scored late in the ND game and not in the Mich game.

You can control a game without blowing out the opponent.

When and where?

Before you go looking don't waste your time. It is impossible. There are too many variables in play to make such an argument. Did Michigan lose spots when they barely beat Ball State or OSU when they barely beat Illinois?

A ND fan could probably tell you the exact occasion(s) but I believe ND dropped in the polls one week after winning that weekend.
