this is the last good matchup on the bears schedule.

a few weeks ago the st. louis game and the minnesota game looked like they might be matchups with 2 good games. now, they both suck and the rest of the bears' schedule is weak (tb, green bay, detroit)

The fact that the Rams game is on MNF still scares me.

A win and a Packer loss, and the Bears clinch the NFC North.

How pathetic.

Basically the #1 seed is sown up too.

Giants, Seahawks: we have the tie breaker, a 6-4 record gives us a 4 game lead, so they have no shot.

Anyone else: 6-4 records, 3 games back. Slight chance but it would take a complete collapse. Looking at the Bears schedule one would be hard pressed to find 3 more losses. And that would assume these clubs win out, which is highly unlikely.

Even if the Bears lose at NE next week, where are the losses going to come from with the Bears D and Det,MN,GB,Stl, and TB on the schedule?

It's likely a 13-3 ballclub, with 14-2 a real possibility.

Look for me in the stands. I'll be the one getting beat up by drunken Pats fans.

Tony, you really need to do something about your propensity for mixing it up with opposing fans !!

Hey, last time it was against (dumb) Cubs fans :)

Since this is the prime game on Fox for the afternoon, we can all expect another hate-session from Joe Buck and Aikman, openly and shamelessly begging for the Pats to beat the Bears.

Buck: "Grossman's having another terrible afternoon."

Aikman: "The Patriots need to blitz more and rattle Grossman to win this game."

Buck: "It would seem inevitable that if the Patriots blitz Grossman, he will throw an interception."

Aikman: "Yes, that would probably be the case. If the Pats can stay with their game plan they have an excellent chance of coming out of here with the victory."

Me: Vomit, barf, vomit.

This is a respect game. I sorta expect us to drop this, but whatev.

If we can beat them and complete an East Coast sweep, it would be beautiful. Probably wouldn't propel them into a number 1 ranking in BS power polls, but it would mean a lot to me.

I look forward to this game.

Bears are 3 point dogs.

Home field is 3 1/2 points correct?

3, at least in College. Could be different for the NFL.

That's kind of simplistic though. It's been the conventional wisdom, but it really doesn't hold true across the board. Some teams have better homefield advantage as others. And a lot of the line is based on the previous week's performance (and thus, how the public perceives the team). NE is also struggling at home this year, which may or may not influence a line.

Since there is no "Other games" thread...

Aaron Rodgers broke his left foot during the Packers' game against New England and is out for the rest of 2006, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. Rodgers had replaced Favre, who hurt his elbow earlier in the game.

Bears 3 games up in the NFC over the Giants, Saints and Panthers with 6 to play. If the Bears play .500 ball (and they should with Det, Min, GB, Tampa left), one of those teams would have to go 6-0 to match them..and even then, the Bears have the tie breaker over the Giants at least.

I don't think anyone has been so head and shoulders ahead of the rest of their conference in a while like the Bears are this year. Maybe the Rams in 2001 but that's about it.

As far as record? The Colts last year, the Eagles the year before that come to mind as teams who were so far ahead that they clinched the conference a month ahead of time. The Bears are enjoying a similar run this year, and it should be an easy run to HFA-my question to Bears fans is, do you want to rest starters or not? It's a very tough issue.

Certainly play Benson more and get griese some snaps.

Well I'm excited for this game!

No way. Grossman really needs to stay sharp, and the defense needs to keep themselves on the same page. I hope if they get any rest, it's for no more than one or 1.5 quarters per game (barring a blowout favoring either side). This esecially holds true for games like StL and Min, who could still be potential playoff contenders.

I think this week's game is easily the most important on the Bears' schedule this year. I'm glad NE figured it out in GB and beat up on the lesser teams the same way the Bears have been doing all year, because I think that makes this game a bit better of a guage of how the Bears can contend with the big teams than the games against Seattle and NYG were.

Even the 2001 Rams were only 2 games up on the Bears.

Its a good thing the Bears faced a 3-4 last week in the Jets. I hope this helps them prepare more for this weeks game and maybe one with Dallas in the playoffs

Im becoming less concerned about HFA and the road to the SB. The teams in order who i am most concerned about facing in the playoffs

1. Seattle- When they get MH and SA back.

2a. Dallas-Flavor of the Week

2b. Carolina

4. Saints

5. Nobody else.
