AHH, it's days like this that make life worth living. First, DePaul beats (then) #5 Kansas. Then they knock off #21 Notre Dame. And tonight, they beat #13 Marquette.

It wouldn't matter if Marquette was ranked first or last, I love beating them.

Go Demons.

wins like this keep them on the bubble, regardless of what happens in the Big East Tourney. They're playing with confidence at the right time here

What hurts them is that they already have 11 losses thanks to inconsistency, and they have a few big games coming up against good teams. (@ Notre Dame, and 2 games that can be won against South Florida. They also have Cincinnati, which has only 1 win the Big East) If they manage to win out, which would not be easy, they'd be 19-11 going into the Big East Tourney with key wins over Kansas, ND twice, and Marquette.

Not looking good, but they almost need to win out, or do some damage in the Big East tourney.

Thanks for the help Demons although you owed it to us after you mugged our players last week

ND against Providence tomorrow night on ESPN in an absolute must-win. If they can pull it off they'll be one game out of a bye in the Big East tourney with a home game against said 4th-place team (Marquette) on the schedule. If they lose it'll probably continue the downward spiral all the way to the NIT.

They need to do both, or I guess if they lose to ND, make it to the finals of the BE tourney. One of those regular season wins is agasint a non D-1 school, so they'd only be 18-11.

Mizzou faces a Baylor team without Aaron Bruce, and still almost blows a 15 point second half lead. They hang on to win by 7, Keon Lawrence is going to be a stud.

This is true. I love the shell of this team for next year with Keon, Matt, Stefhon, and Marshall. And I know I keep saying it, and it's probably not fair to pump a guy up who's never played for us, but I'm so excited for DeMarre Carroll.

Yeah, they probably do need to do both, there are too many bubble teams ahead of them. They have gotten hot at the right time though. If they can win the majority of their last few games (basically meaning pretty much all of them), they'd have a shot. Their strength of schedule is 11th in the country, and their RPI is one behind Notre Dame (#'s 55 and 56. Not great, but within striking distance of top 50). The committee also looks at your last ten games, in which case DePaul might stand a chance since they just started winning. They might need one more marquee win to even be considered though (Kansas was kind of early in the season, and ND has fallen to pretty much a very good bubble team), so depending on who they draw in the Big East tourney, they might have their shot to get it.

And U-Dub loses another very winnable game. At Pitt is a must-win for them now, imo (what do you say, SSR?).

Heh, it's amazing what rooting for a bubble team will do for your interest in all of college basketball in February.

Washington's computer numbers are crap with a 75 RPI and a 277 non-conf. SOS. That's before the home loss which should drop them a few spots despite WSU being ranked highly. Their real problem is their 3 game road trip coming up with Pitt, Oregon St., and Oregon. Washington's only road win this year is against a brutal ASU team, and it was only by 5 points.

Besides at Oregon and Pitt, they close out with USC and UCLA at home. 3-1 would keep them alive, but I think 2 will be hard enough to come by. 2-2 in that stretch puts them at 11 losses heading into the Pac-10 tourney, which would put them at 12 losses as an at large.

I personally put 12 losses on the same level as 20 wins as in if you have 12+ losses or less than 20 wins, there better be some heft behind your games, or you don't stand a chance.

And I think the Pac 10 is the best conference in the country, but this loss probably killed their chances.

EDIT: Continuing on the PAC 10, Stanford better pick up at least one of those games in their tough 4 game stretch (Oregon, at USC, at UCLA, Arizona) 2 wins should lock them in at 19-10, only 1 and they're gonna have to sweat it out save for a run to the pac 10 title game.

So I know I'm a little late coming in here, but getting season swept by Virginia Tech (who isn't even a REAL ACC team to begin with) is really frustrating. I hope we see them (and crush them) in the ACC tourney.

It's about time they started to play some ball! I love it! Great game last night! Keep it going!!!!

If you guys ever get a chance to go to the BE tournament...go. It's a blast and there is no other conference tournament like it.

The Big East is heck right now and 20 wins still won't get you in the NCAA's but finishing over 500 in conference and 1 win in the BE tournament will.

Illinois fans, what's the latest on the Smith/Carlwell car accident? Not trying to flame at all, it just sounds like things have gotten a little mysterious.

The report is that Smith drove home (I don't know how he drove that car the 2 miles or whatever his place was from the accident) after the accident and went into the apartment, leaving Carlwell in the car. Then a neighbor saw the car and called the police.

Smith called the police, but only after he drove home. He has since lawyered up, which you should do in any casewhere you were driving and someone else is injured. It hapened almost the same spot McBride was injured. Or at least that is what I have read. We really need to get the guys into an on campus house.

Is there speculation of anything that may have led to the crash?

Some of the quotes I have seen have been rather mysterious.

I believe the blizzard and the tree were the main causes. Anything else is just speculation at this juncture.

Durant may not go pro . That would be freaking awesome, plus he seems like a really great kid. I would have to think Texas would be a preseason top 3 team next if he stays being that they are starting 4 freshman and a soph.

Go pro. Nothing else to learn at this level.

I haven't really read anything about it, at least since the article saying Carlwell was improving, thank god.
