Come on it's OK to root for Iowa. It's not like you were rooting for Tennessee.

Alford is doing a hell of a job with your team this year.

Probably the best job he's ever done. Too bad nobody around here is noticing.

Alford doesn't get noticed unless he's allowing accused sex offenders play on his team (and this is a rare year he isn't)

Nothing about that post is remotely close to the truth.

You know I used to think the same thing until I had the chance to talk to one of Steve's assistants in person. He claimed Steve was forced by the University to give the guy a second chance and thus he was really steamed when it happened again.

That's pretty much what happened.

Duke loses again. Wonder how many games they have to lose to not be a 1 seed?

Well Duke was #10 coming into the week and lost both games this week to unranked opponents. They'll drop at least to the mid teens and anything short of winning out will prevent them from getting a #1 seed.

ETA: And considering they are sitting at 5-4 in conference and still have to play North Carolina twice in the ACC, a 2 seed is unlikely at this point.

ND lost to friggin USF. If that loss somehow comes back to cost us the tournament (and seeing how the committee likes to give us the screw if we're on the bubble, it may very well work that way), I'm going to be new levels of pissed off. There is no excuse for losing to them.

BSU lost to Akron by 18, no shock since the Zips are the best team in the MAC.

I am sure they will find a way to get a 2. Vitale listed them as his first 2 the other night. Anything above a 4 for them is a joke. I seriously have seen at least 25 teams this year, who if you take out the officials, are clearly better than them.

Yeah a lot of my friends still live in Iowa City and they claim that attendance and interest is really bad. It is a shame really, he should be in consideration for coach of the big 10. Seriously with what he has coming back they should have been terrible, but they are actually very good now. It just took a while to get the pieces to fit together.

They have a reasonable shot at 10-6 in the Big Ten right now, which seemed absurd 6 weeks ago. They would have to beat Northwestern, Purdue and Illinois at home and win at Minnesota and Penn State. The games at Wisconsin and MSU will be losses. Maybe not real probable, but at least it's realistic.

We'll see if they can keep it going. We never play well at Minnesota and they always seem to play spoiler when we have something on the line.

People didn't think Haluska could handle being the #1 guy this well and Tyler Smith has been even better than anyone imagined. Hopefully he doesn't listen to any bad advice and decide to leave after this year. He still needs to improve his outside shot, ball handling and defense to be a sure 1st round pick.

Really the difference has been the improvement of the big guys though. We were getting destroyed on the glass all year and now they've outrebounded Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana in one week. They did enough things right with turnovers, rebounds and defense to beat Wisconsin last week. We just couldn't get Tucker to miss and Smith/Haluska (6-35) couldn't throw it in the ocean.

Oh, brother. When was the last time a team that got the shaft from the tourney won that joke of a "tournament"? ND played freshmen that game that hadn't played all season, shows you how important it was.

To answer your question, Michigan from a couple of years ago.

New AP and Coaches Polls. Top 5 in both is Florida, UCLA, Ohio State, Wisconsin, North Carolina.

Also, the Pac-10 has 6 teams in this weeks AP poll (#2 UCLA, #13 Oregon, #14 Washington State, #19 USC, #24 Arizona, #25 Stanford).

I guess Arizona gets to stay in the AP poll no matter what-I was hoping IU would stay in even with their loss to Iowa because of the huge Wisconsin win, but I guess not.

Arizona is the west coast Duke, they will never be ousted from the top 25.

The voters basically kept Indiana at the same spot in both polls. In the AP poll, Indiana went from 141 points and #26 to 117 and #27. In the Coaches Poll they went from 62 points and t-#25 to 74 and #24. And Arizona actually did drop out in the Coaches poll.

That's true-I forgot that IU was only in the coaches poll last week-thanks for the clarification.

Oh well-find a way to win on Saturday, and back in the top 25 they should go-it's not like basketball rankings mean anything anyway.

20th and 21st. It's nice to finally be getting respect from the pollsters :D

I'm really looking forward to the Southern Illinois-Butler game.

As am I. But first, wee need to take care of business this week against Bradley and Creighton.

Wouldn't it be funny if we beat KU on Wednesday and end up ranked. I'm not counting on it, but it'd be nice. UT/aTm will be fun to watch tonight. Hook em'!

I can't wait. I think it'll be a good one. We'll have to continue to play good D if we want to have a shot. Our offense is too unpredictable to guarantee a good performance. I think if we make it ugly, we win.
