The wishes of some have been granted!

Dusty Baker won't be out of work for long.

Baker, whose contract was not renewed by the Chicago Cubs on Monday, will join ESPN's postseason baseball broadcast crew this weekend.

Baker has been rumored to be a candidate for the Washington Nationals managerial job, which opened when it was announced that Frank Robinson would not return.

I wasn't going to watch these games but plan to now.

Good job ESPN, you've made yourself a less credible sports network but possibly more entertaining

This is a move of comic genius!

Thank-you ESPN. Please pair with Joe Morgan!

No thanks. Dusty and Morgan would be a mutual admiration society. While Dusty broadcasting has some great comic potential, there is only so much a viewer can take.

Hey, what's the first letter in ESPN stand for? That's right, entertainment.

Oh and this is for Dusty being on ESPN: :pukel:

Let's not forget the fact that ESPN is going to blow so much smoke up Dusty's keister about how great a manager he is. And how wronged he was to have the Cubs fire the best manager since Casey Stengel!

I'm going to tune into every minute of this. It should be amazing. Who will he be teamed up with? Morgan please?

No kidding, this is gonna be hilarious.

"Don't know why the Tigers are batting Neifi 9th tonight. Dude's a #2 hitter if I ever saw one."

"Nefti, that dude, is going to save the Tigers. I mean, my gosh he can swing the bat from both sides of plates. He's like valuable, dude."

This is FANTASTIC news. ESPN is comic gold. This is will singlehandedly boost playoff ratings. I, for one, will be watching, when I previously had no intention of doing so!

Oh man. There is going to be some classic lines. He can't sit through a 2 minute press conference and make any sense. I can only imagine what he can come up with in a whole game. It will be like watching a game with a 98 year old alzheimers patient. I'm sure he'll would only work with Joe Morgan or Herold Reynolds because they would do better in the heat. Oh wait Harold is gone. Thank god Johnnie B. is too.

I love America! Where else can you get fired for poor performance then move on to a job at ESPN!?!!? I love this country!

Umm, Steve Phillips?

Didn't Bobby Valentine do the same thing? And Larry Bowa?

Those who can, do. Those who can't, coach. Those who can't coach, commentate for ESPN.
