man, I hope not.

the last couple years, as the cubs have fallen out of the race, the overconfident among us have held up the 'stros as an example of how we still have a chance (because of their recent comebacks). This would make that even worse.

I dislike the Astros far more thatn the Cardinals at this point, so I too hope not. The Cardinals sans TLR are at leat ok as people. The Astros and Roy Oswalt and Roger Clemens are very hard to cheer for.

I think it would be great for them to catch the cardinals and then get swept by the mets.

My hatred for the Cardinals is surpassed only by the early 90s Knicks teams.

The Astros, while lame, have never really bugged me as much.

I'm just the opposite. For whatever reason, I've have despised the Astros far more than I've disliked either the Cards or Mets. I would love to see Roger retire without another WS, Fat Boy Berkman go home crying, and the rest of the mediocre "talent" that are the Houston Astros go home without anything. And I have cousins in San Antonio who are Astros fans. Hmmm...I wonder if there's a connection... :-k :D

I doubt they can do it, but would laugh heartily if they did.

I admit it, I'm reduced to rooting for disasters on other clubs to make me feel better.

The Astros could catch the Cards but I don't think they will. If the Astros were 3.5 behind the Cubs, then I would say it's likely the Astros would win the division.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here...

I'm tired of seeing a mediocre astro team make it to the playoffs and with good pitching and good fortune on offense have success. Fans here in the Houston area are bandwagon fans and don't know the least about being true fans. They have gotten too full of themselves. Early in the season last year I was listening to a sports jockey complaining about how bad the astros were playing saying that fans shouldn't have to go see such bad play. No one cared about them until September.

At least cards fans are knowledgeable and not new to the scene. Roger Clemens is a media hound and I would love to see him end his career on a disappointing note (not to mention he went to texas university).

With Carp on the mound I think I'd rather deal with the Mets in a shorter series. Either way we'll most likely lose.

what are they whining about? Biggio leaving the baseline? Why didn't he just throw the ball to second?

Posted
They are whining that this team doesn't look like the 04 or 05 version. After 2 years in a roe of 100+ wins it's a tough team to watch.

too bad too because the 2004 version would annihilate the mets and yankees pitching staffs. you guys blew your window I'm afraid. Luckily for you the cardinals will rebuild and the NL Central is horrible.

I think the 07 team will be better but I might never see a better Cards team then 04. Oh well...

If the Cardinals dont make the playoffs that would be worse than about anything the Cubs have ever done. If it was anyone except Houston I would be really happy. Since it is Houston only mildly happy.

No way, man.

The Cardinals are hurting, it's not the Cardinals team that went to the WS two years ago.

The Cubs have had far more ridiculously embarrassing seasons, moments, decades. Hell, we're working on a century.
