I keep thinking that's Liverpool.

I really wish more Americans would stay the hell out of the EPL, and places like Sunderland in particular. It's a go-nowhere destination where our guys will get scapegoated for the fact the club is run in a dysfunctional manner, and the instant they are in a relegation fight (December) our guys will end up on the bench so they can bring in replacement level Championship players to finish 17th. Besler, and Yedlin in particular, would be better of in Germany.

Chelsea's owner is Vladimir Putin's best friend, and most of their games end up 1-0 and are boring as [expletive]. If you are going to go top-5, go with Arsenal or Liverpool. The former are at least exciting to watch, and the latter have the benefit of the 2nd most delusional fans in England.

I'd say they're more like the Yankees circa 2007 or so. No youth system, just buying players, lunatic owner. John Terry is England's Derek Jeter. (CAPTAINLEADERLEGEND)

I was thinking the Mets when Bobby Valentine was the manager.

so who are the Cubs of the EPL?

Some team in League Two.

Preston North End (of League One)

They are a professional sports team with a longer drought than the Cubs (they last won the title in 1890)

Dang dude, Liverpool can't even get a "at least exciting to watch" too after last year's swashbuckling style?

When it came time for me to choose an EPL team to support, and since I had a choice in the matter, I chose to go full-on meatball and make up for my Cub fandom by choosing ManU (and also to blatantly annoy my Liverpool fan friends). Considering what we go through as Cubs fans, I don't feel the least bit bad about that choice (although last season was a little disappointing).

They were very exciting to watch last year for sure, but I'm reserving judgement on how exciting they'll be this year until I see how they actually replace Suarez.

Newcastle. Mike Ashley was #PTR before it was cool, and they have a fanbase who's loyal for no apparent reason considering they haven't won anything of note in a very long time.

They're going to be worse, no doubt. And score less goals, no doubt. You can't really replace Suarez (maybe Barca/Real could, Liverpool can't). But I would be pretty shocked if they don't continue playing an exciting, attractive brand of soccer -- albeit a little less effective version.

If Sturridge can be more clinical, and if Sterling can take the next step forward they'll be good. They really need to find another central defender, two-way mid, and striker with all that SuarezCash.
