Dang seth, you aren't joking. WOW!

Nice link, Marco. Bookmarked.

It should've been Canada vs Mexico.

Don't see how you could say that so definitively.

If you watched the Canada/US game, you'd have seen multiple bad calls going in favor of Canada as well. Iain Hume should have been red carded before he had scored for 2 reckless plays on restarts.

So no, no it shouldn't have been.

GREAT game.....at least the pieces I caught flipping back and forth from the Cubs game.

Beasley missed a gimme goal, and that upset me, but I'm glad we won.

That second US goal was just SICK.

Glad we could beat Mexico.

For those who went, how much were the tickets/how hard were they to get?

I paid $38 a seat, including fees, right when they went on sale, and was ten rows from the field behind the North goal (from now on to be known as the Benny Feilhaber goal)

Other tickets in the corners/midfield were $60 and $75 plus fees, I think.

Tickets were very hard to come by the last several days (it sold out soon after the semis on Thursday)

The north end of the field was a lonely place for an American fan to be.

I was in the far corner in the 5th row. Awesome seats.

The atmosphere at the match was amazing -- the best I've experienced -- and it was all made better by a great U.S. recovery in the second half. I did got some grief from Mexico fans at the half, but it was all in good fun and I made sure to remind them that it wasn't over yet.

I think Feilhaber had a lot of friends/family at the game -- I saw several people near us that wearing his jersey and they were going crazy when he put in the go-ahead goal. Then again, I was going nuts too. What a beautiful shot! :D

There were a fair number of us, just not as many as the south end.

But it was all worth it to be so close to the Benny volley.

I think I counted 15 fans in my section.

I saw a dude with a Feilhaber jersey on the Red Line on Sunday, I thought it was curious that he would pick him for the jersey.

Me and my buddy were walking down the Mag Mile towards Millennium park shortly after the game was over. Since we had no way of finding out who won, we had to check the body language of the Mexican fans coming from Soldier Field. Needless to say, we were pretty optimistic after seeing 2 dozen Mexican fans that were varying degrees of solemn, sad, and downright pissed. We finally found a couple guys with US Soccer stuff on and found out the score for sure.

There were a decent number of US fans where I was (seth's group helped the total). There was even a Mexican US fan behind me who gave me his flag for the second half to hang over the railing.

Too bad I didn't even think of brining a sign to put up...

I'll certainly give the Mexico fans for bringing that atmosphere. If only Bears games were like that.

I keep watching Feilhaber's goal on youtube. I don't think anyone saw it coming. It wasn't until it dropped to the ground that I realized it went in. Just a great shot.

And for anyone who wants to see the team chugging some bubbly from the Gold Cup, here's the

looking for highlights since sportscenter blows I found this.

The 2 minute mark shows Mexico at its finest against Lalas. The last scene says it all.

The blatant stomp on the back of the leg right before that does as well.

EDIT: Shows Mexico at it's finest, I mean.

Ching didn't look too bad, all in all. He missed an easy puppy, and still needs to learn to finish. I'd rather have Ching in there over Johnson or Twellman. I think the US needs to look at perhaps making Beasley a forward in the Thierry Henry mold. He's certainly got the pace for it, if not the finishing instinct.

I shudder to think of how many wide open opportunities Beasley would miss if he was converted to striker full time.

lol. man, at times america looked horrible. they really should have won 5-1 or 5-2. and what i didn't expect was all the acting mexico was doing, like they knew they would end up being the butt of jokes after losing to usa, and you could tell they were getting salty as hell towards the end.

america just makes horrible passes. they are slow and bad dribblers. when mexico was on, they made usa look foolish when dribbling towards the goal. there was one point where mexico would have scored if #9 hadn't gotten in the way of #2 heading it to the guy who took the shot, because 9 headed it too far in advance, but 2 had the best line for the pass (mexico trying to score, sorry).

not a bad game to watch, just not as fun as the real madrid/barcelona buisness earlier.

and now henry is with barcelona(!!!), with beckham leaving madrid... so barcelona had better win next year

Barca with Henry, Ronaldinho, Messi and Eto'o...wow. (Though there are rumors of Eto'o leaving). Still, they should be amazing offensively.

Oh, and HOORAY US!!!

Mexico beat Brazil tonight 2-0 for the 1st shocker of the Copa America. Still don't think we have a shot tom, I'll be happy if they can score once.

Did Brazil bring their A team? I only watched for about 10 minutes but I didn't see Kaka or Ronaldinho out there. And did Mexico bring their A team?

Kaka, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Adriano are all not playing. But it was still a potent lineup.

Mexico definitely brought their A team (minus Borghetti, since he blew his hammy vs. the US).

Brazil looked bad, slow and disinterested.

Tonight's game is going to end up looking like the friendly we played last spring against Germany. Similarly bad lineup against a world power's A team.
