It would be nice if the Cubs would take a page from Ozzie's book and actually make players accountable when they fail in the fundamentals of the game.

For the second time this season, Ozzie Guillen is making a big deal out of little things.

Seven White Sox hitters were ordered to show up early for extra bunting practice Friday, with Guillen fuming at poor fundamentals that helped cost the team five of its first six post-All-Star break games.

"They have to show me they're going to do the bunting and the little things or it's going to be instructional league for them because this is embarrassing," Guillen said. "It's embarrassing for a big-league ballclub to not do the things that they're supposed to do."

The seven players who attended the 4 p.m. bunting boot camp were Scott Podsednik, Brian Anderson, Alex Cintron, Chris Widger, Rob Mackowiak, Pablo Ozuna and Ross Gload.

Ozzie making a mountain out of a mole hill. If he ever loses his job I wonder if he ever manages again.

not being able to put a successful sacrifice bunt down in key situations is something a little bigger than a mole hill. most teams would kill to have ozzie as their manager. ozzie won a freakin world series. as im sure many cubs fans, including myself, find his antics annoying all the time, he will always have a job. look at terrel owens in the NFL. the guy is a total headcase, yet no matter how many teams he leaves, he will always have a job because he is such a good player.

So did Brenly, but I'm not awaiting his return to the dugout.

The clinic they need is for not giving up as many runs. The White Sox are second in all of baseball in SLG % and lead the majors in HRs and runs scored. Their offense isn't a problem and getting (for the most part) sub-par players to practice their bunting skills isn't going to make much of a difference. There's no reason to call out players who (for the most part) you have no business relying on for offensive production.

Like others have said, the problem with the White Sox is their pitching not their offense.

I thought that at least the Sox didn't buy into the media-created OzzieBall myth to explain their success, but it looks like even they are fully on board.

if it were baker, he'd have an "optional" bunt camp. . . . don't wanna piss any players off, right?

It's probably more about "we're gonna do things the right way when I ask you to do them" than it is about bunting.

looks like it paid off for them. they got 2 sac bunts down to move a runner to third, and the next batter hit a ground ball to the middle infielders that would probably have been a double play if the runners hadnt been moved over.

If they got 2 sac bunts down and then a ball was hit to the middle infield that'd be 3 outs.

sorry i didnt clarify, they had 1st and 2nd with no outs twice in the game, and they got a bunt down twice to move the runners to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. and then both times there was a ground ball to the middle of the infield that scored the run.

i am enjoying how crappy the sox have been playing lately. they have the worst offense in the AL since the break.

What is Ozziedent going to do, if none of those seven players show up for "bunt camp?" Is he going to scream at them in front of the team, and call them a homosexual slur? Or walk up to the said players and punch them in the face. Let's face....Baker's alot of things, but Guillen, is a mental lunatic who needs to be kicked to the curb, until he works out his problems, if ever. It wouldn't surprise if Guillen is fired after the season, WHEN the White Sox miss the playoffs. He has simply lost it, and he is a black eye to the White Sox.

I still think they need to change that grinder ball rule that says never underestimate the power of power. Keep that, and then add: Power has the power to destroy what the grinder ball was built on: The power of no power.

Actually, it should say: Grinder Ball is stupid and we like winning games by hitting home runs and pitching well

You obviously have not seen the grinder ball rule I'm talking about

"This one time at bunt camp..."

If it has anything to do with "flute" or an "apple pie", we don't want to hear about it, vance.....

what if it was a baseball bat or a well greased catcher's mit?

better than a well greased baseball bat, I suppose.
