Any chance the Twins get him?? I was watching Baseball Tonight on ESPN last night, and they were saying that the Twins are going to be the sleeper in the Alfonso Soriano sweepstakes and w/ the outfield injuries are going to be looking at him. If they get Soriano, and the Sox stand pat, that could get them over the top and into the Wild Card. He has hit so many home runs at RFK this year, it's insane to think what his numbers would be in a smaller ballpark like the Metrodome. What are your thoughts on this??

Terry Ryan rarely trades prospects, and he will be unwilling to part with the ones that would result in Soriano coming to Minny. Also, they are a low budget team and cannot afford his salary.

When was the last time they made a deadline deal? Shannon Stewart?

Remember when the Cubs were hot after Soriano last year, and no one wanted him (largely because of his OBP and K totals)

Two words: contract year.

the twins will catch the sox with or without soriano. They are doing it without hunter or stewart. The sox 2005 complete games are catching up to them. Everyone thought it was cool when they went 4 straight games with a CG. ask buerhle if it was cool now.

My thoughts are that the HHH Dome has never been considered a good hitter's park.

And RFK is not considered a good hitter's park, either. Right now, it prolly doesn't mattter which park they play in, Mr. Contract Year Soriano is going to prolly put up outstanding numbers.

Well, last season they were 10 games over .500 entering the ten days prior to the deadline and did nothing. The year before they were 10 games over and did nothing. Shannon Stewart was a solid if not mediocre corner outfielder and is not in the same league as Soriano (this season).

In Fox's pregame show, Rosenthal mentioned that the White Sox are now suitors for Soriano as well.

it's not hitting the white sox should be concerned with...

Well Soriano is the best hitter on the market, so he'll get a lot of interest.

Personally, I don't see him as being this good next year, or the year after.

I don't know if the 2005 workload is coming back to haunt the Sox. I just think they were never really that great of pitchers. Garland had a career year, Contreras has been surprisingly good, Garcia was way overrated, Vazquez has had one good year and was the stupidest move the Sox could have made, and Buehrle is a work horse but pretty mediocre. Pretty much a bunch of good #3 or #4 starters, but no ace. I do agree that the Twins will pass the Sox even without Soriano.

I agree. I think Garland is an alright pitcher. Contreras is filthy, and has turned into a pretty solid pitcher. The Sox were REALLY lucky that Jeremy Reed has been mediocre, Olivo has been terrible, and Morse got busted for steroids, otherwise the Garcia deal would look really bad. I don't think you could call Buehrle mediocre. He's been a solid innings eater, and he has a career ERA+ of 128.

Anderson would stay up, IMO. Pods would be gone. OMG WHAT IS THE MARKETING NOW NO MORE GRINDER.

Guess that grinder ball rule about not underestimating the power of power needs to be changed. Don't underestimate the power of power: It has the power to destroy the grinder ball philosophy

That's real smart

They're going to mess up a young kid just to have another masher in the lineup.

He's hitting .205/.289/.327. He's pretty messed up as it is. The Sox are trying to win the World Series, if they can upgrade the CF spot they have to do it. If Andreson can't handle a demotion with those numbers he can't cut it anyway.

Offense isn't there issue. It's pitching
