Did you guys take stupid pills this morning?

If you have something non-stupid to add, add it.

Either way, avoid the personal attacks.

No, I think maybe it's you who are missing the point. We don't give a rats ass whether or not you get razzed by White Sox fans. It doesn't matter one iota and shouldn't matter one iota in whether or not the Cubs make a trade with the Sox. If the Cubs are looking to make a trade, even when unloading veteran players, if according to the scouts, the best deal is being offered from the White Sox then the Cubs should take it...even if they aren't fleecing them...even if the deal could make the White Sox a better team, because that's what you do when you make a trade. You make the best trade that you can for what circumstances your team is in. The thin-skinned, hot tempered, hot-headedness of your fans should never come into play.

Anyone who thinks it should is the one who is taking stupid pills.

I live in Northern California and am friends with A's and Giants fans. My dad is a Dodgers fan and my mom is a Yankees fan and it hurts me to get made fun of by them.

We'll get those added right away!

No trades with Braves, Astros, Cardinals, White Sox, Royals, Dodgers, Giants , or A's because several of us Cub fans don't wanna be made fun of!

Since LA, SF and Oakland are already on there, add the Angels, Padres and the Red Sox. C'mon guys, we should be able to ban the Cubs from trading with every MLB team soon enough (that might be the best strategy for Hendry at this rate, but that's for another thread).

I know Twins fans (honestly), a couple Mariners fans, a chick who likes the D-Backs colors, and I'm pretty sure my neighbor's dog has a Rockies chew toy.

Dogs are ruthless when it comes to heckling.

I would not be willing to trade with the Sox to help them, possibly, repeat as champions for some guys that might or might not make the Cubs competitive next year (or down the road). Howry and Erye are the type of guys they are missing in their bullpen and could be the thing that puts them over the top (again). I wouldnt do it and I doubt Hendry would either. After all, Kenny Williams has been outspoken about his desire to not play second fiddle to the Cubs; he's said he knows they need to repeat and or be a strong contender for years to come to affect change in their local popularity. I don't see the Cubs aiding him in that process (no matter what they may get in return). If the Cubs seriously consider trading one or both of them, there are other teams to consider...

That's my thought's excatly why any trade with the White Sox needs to cost them a little more. Howry and Eyre are the guys who wouldbe the final pieces they'd need for another run. Like he said, there are other teams we can trade them too.

Only if we'd get better (or at least equal) value from another team as compared to what we'd get from the Sox.

NO!! I would be willling to get a little less in return from another team as long as the players would make a good impact, than help out the White Sox and get some players who are only a little better. It's the principles.

Sorry, but the principle is that you get the best value for YOUR team; you don't worry about how it will impact another team (with the possible exception of teams within your division). Improving the White Sox will not make the Cubs weaker, so if the best value you can get comes from the Sox that's who you trade with, period, case closed.

NO!! It's not the principles. It's about maximizing the talent on your roster, not settling some silly personal vendetta.

I wouldn't trade Howry or Eyre to anyone right now. They actually give us a strong bullpen, but if the White Sox offered us the best deal on Williamson or another impending FA the Cubs wanted to unload, I'd take it without any qualms.

I'm done arguing about this with you people. It is a LOT different in Chicago.

Glad to know you accepted defeat. While dealing with the Sox may be difficult for you in Chicago, we all have fans that we have to deal with. Apparently that point was lost on you. The goal of the Cubs should be to build the best team they can. Other than maybe not trading within the division, no other restrictions can should be made.

In fact while I might would prefer to trade with the rest of the AL over the Sox, I'd rather trade with the Sox than any other NL team as we don't compete with the Sox for anything significant except some pissing match that some Chicago fans might have.

You're confusing Cubs fans' attitude with Sox fans. It's Sox fans who care more about seeing the other team fail than seeing their team succeed (or at least that's the stereotype many people on this board have). Cub fans, however, care about one thing: Ending a nearly century old drought and winning a World Series. That means Cub fans would be in favor of any trade that would bring the Cubs closer to the promised land. If that trade also benefits the other team, so be it. Cub fans would NOT be in favor of a trade that's less likely to help them reach the World Series just to stick it to the Sox.

You are correct that Sox fans have this anti-Cubs mentality and come off as anti-Cubs first, pro-White Sox 2nd. They still have this attitude after winning the World Series. Therein lies the problem. They win the World Series and are still extremly anti-Cubs. Before they won the World Series, I would be somewhat okay with a deal helping them. Now, I'm not.

So, once again the only reason why the Cubs should not trade with the Sox is that you don't want to deal with their attitude. That's pretty flimsy.

Your head must be ready to explode with the Cardinal/Sox series starting tonight. Seriously, who are you rooting for in this series?

I deal with Cub fans every day. We should never trade with them, either.

It's not THAT different in Chicago, unless you have some sort of jealous envy towards Sox fans because their team won the World Series last year. Of course, if you just want something to rub in their faces, that's being no different than the fan base you despise.

The White Sox have no bearing on the Cubs making the playoffs or winning their division. None AT ALL. Even if Sox fans are predisposed to be concerned about the Cubs, relaying the favor is doing nothing to make any Cub fan look any better as it is.

I married a die-hard Sox fan. She went to all the parades, saw 3 playoff games last year, got a ball signed by their whole team, got on TV at the parade in her fully decked out Sox gear and partial tattoos and face paint, and enjoyed every minute of it. My feelings on it? More power to her. Congrats on something long coming. Didn't affect the Cubs at all.

Spend a few years in Chicago and then we'll talk.

IT IS A LOT DIFFERENT IN CHICAGO

It's a lot different in Chicago, okay.

It is a LOT different in Chicago.

You spend a few years in Chicago too and then we'll have this discussion.

yet...

I started hating them once I moved to New Trier and once I joined forums and dealt with moronic fans in person and online.
