I would be a little more hesitant to trade with the Cardinals, or any NL Central team for that matter, simply because they are in the Cubs' division. I would also be more hesitant to trade with any NL team than any AL team because of the Wild Card. I would consider the White Sox to be equal to any other team in the AL.

That being said, any trade that would help the Cubs in the future, I would be in support of as long as we are getting decent parts in return. I could care less who the Cubs are trading with. If the trade helps the team, it's a good trade. If the trade doesn't them the team, then it's a bad trade. Simple as that.

You obviosly don't get it. Any trade with the White Sox or Cardinals, in my book needs to cost them a little more than other teams, since we hate their guts.

Correction, YOU hate their guts.

I'd trade with them in a heartbeat if it was a good trade. A good trade is a good trade is a good trade reguardless of who its with. (The exception to this rule being certain interdivision trades)

And if the deal turns out to be a Garland for Karchner deal, with the Cubs getting the short end of the stick, do you want to deal w/ moronic Sox fans shoving it down your throat??

Frankly, I wouldn't care. I don't care about the White Sox. I never have. I don't root for them, I don't root against them. Why should I hate them? They are in the American League, not the National League. I'll save my enmity for teams that matter to the Cubs, and their chances of making a playoff game.

Oh, and that enmity extends to people, as well. Jim Hendry, for example.

To be fair, its a little tougher when you actually live here in Chicago, but that said, I generally agree with what you wrote.

It's a lot different when you live here.

I would not be willing to trade with the Sox to help them, possibly, repeat as champions for some guys that might or might not make the Cubs competitive next year (or down the road). Howry and Erye are the type of guys they are missing in their bullpen and could be the thing that puts them over the top (again). I wouldnt do it and I doubt Hendry would either. After all, Kenny Williams has been outspoken about his desire to not play second fiddle to the Cubs; he's said he knows they need to repeat and or be a strong contender for years to come to affect change in their local popularity. I don't see the Cubs aiding him in that process (no matter what they may get in return). If the Cubs seriously consider trading one or both of them, there are other teams to consider...

So if I understand this correctly, if we are shopping one of our guys, and we get offered player A from the White Sox and player B from an AL team, and everyone in the Cubs organization agrees that player A is better than player B (maybe not dramatically better but still better), there are some who would prefer to trade for player B.

Am I reading this correctly?

I'm telling you not to hold your breath on a the Cubs/Sox trade. BTW, I doubt that there would be a consensus about a Sox trade within the Cubs organization because of the PR component. I also doubt the Cubs will conceed this season. Hendry is pointing to getting his players back from the DL.

Frankly, I don't think Eyre and Howry are going anywhere. If a trade is completed it will be to move low level or extra players (Perez, Rusch, Nevin, Mabry, etc), soon to be FA like Maddux, or to add an impact player (if the team gets hot).

That's how I read it and I think it's absurd.

THANK YOU!! My thoughts excatly.

No. If in the process of us getting Player A from the White Sox we fleece them. Otherwise, we don't do it.

sorry, but i care more about the cubs than i do about you getting picked on.

HEY!! I CARE MORE ABOUT THE CUBS THAN ANYTHING!! IT IS A LOT DIFFERENT IN CHICAGO, WHERE YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH BOTH THE CARDINALS AND WHITE SOX!! OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO, YOU ONLY HAVE TO DEAL W/ THE CARDINALS!!

He didn't say that you didn't care about the Cubs. He said that he didn't care about you getting picked on by White Sox and Cardinal fans. There is a big difference. Nobody is questioning loyalty on this board. Calm down and caps are unnecessary.

again, i don't care one iota about you getting picked on...and neither should management. it's not my problem you have thin skin and a short temper.

Ok, so right now the list includes White Sox, Cardinals, Braves, Astros, and Royals that we can't trade with unless we're obviously fleecing them. Should we add any more teams to this list before sending it to MacPhail?

It's a lot different in Chicago, okay. I love the Cubs. I may hate the White Sox's guts, but I hate the Cardinals above all. If the Cubs were in a heated race with the Cardinals, I could care less about the White Sox's position. I'd root for the White Sox over the Cardinals.

I live in Northern California and am friends with A's and Giants fans. My dad is a Dodgers fan and my mom is a Yankees fan and it hurts me to get made fun of by them.

I kinda live close to Royals fans.

Congrats

So, since I have to deal with Braves and Astros fans, we shouldn't trade with those teams either.

The Astros, depending on the players b/c it's an inter-division trade. The Braves are not a hated rival.

i'm just gonna say that i can completely see why you have a clip of a face-punching as your avatar. you seem to have a lot of pent up aggression and hatred.

I'm a Lakers fan and I live in Davis which is 15 minutes from Sacramento. I'm familiar to being in enemy territory. At least you live in the city in which your team plays.

We'll get those added right away!

No trades with Braves, Astros, Cardinals, White Sox, Royals, Dodgers, Giants , or A's because several of us Cub fans don't wanna be made fun of!

They are by me. Last time I watched the Cubs in Atlanta, they asked me how Andy Pratt was working for us. I never want to have to deal with that again. I'm very thin skinned and almost got into a fight over it.
