I'll be jumping for joy when hes gone..... but, on the other hand.. any one wanna join me to make a ANTI NEIFI BANDWGN???

whose in...?

All of those players are either dead-ball or expansion era players. Don't ask me about Jim Levey.

And 1968 was "The Year of the Pitcher" in which Gibson set the single-season ERA mark and Yaz won the Triple Crown and didn't even hit .300.

It makes Neifi's feat all the more pathetic.

It's really unfathomable that he is on the team. What a joke.

And signed to a 2yr/5M deal with a 1M signing bonus, along with incentives if he plays enough.

You guys on this board know these things way more than I, but does anyone know the Cubs records when Neifi starts vs when Neifi doesn't start or even get in the game? It's gotten to the point that if he's in the lineup, I don't like our chances. My hope is that Walk plays second when Nevin gets here and Neifi is relagated to the pinch hit in the fifth inning when we're behind kind of role.

He's pretty much a guaranteed out when he steps to the plate, pathetic

I don't think Len and Bob much care for Perez. It seemed like they really wanted to lay into Perez in the first inning for not pulling the bat back on a fouled bunt attempt when Pierre tried to steal second.

I give them credit, I wouldn't be able to be professional enough not to rip this team

Fred Hornkohl would probably know.

Yaz won the Triple Crown in 1967. He lead the league in BA in '68 with a .301. Doesn't anybody remember the Miracle Sox of '67 anymore?

I just did some random box score hunting on Hal Lanier and I didn't see one instance where he batted higher than 8th in the line up.

If my calculations are correct the Cubs are 6-15 when Neifi Starts

That means they are 14-17 when he doesn't start. Not great, but a considerable improvement. Helllllllllloooooo!!!!!!!!! Get rid of this guy. Right before he swung at the first pitch in the 9th last night, I said to my very knowledgeable 10 year old son, "He's gonna swing at the first pitch..." And he did, bouncing to the pitcher. I don't know what kind of pictures he has of Dusty, whether with a goat or whatever, but there can be no other reason he is on this team. He is a great defensive player with NO bat...and those guys are a friggin dime a dozen. Arrrghhhhhhhhh!!!

I've never heard of the first ten players. Wish I could say the same about the 11th.

I remember Lanier. The prototypical good field no hit shortstop of the modern deadball era (late 60s) (Dal Maxvill, Mark Belanger were other examples). He was hidden in a loaded Giants lineup (Mays, McCovey, Hart, Davenport). Later managed the Astros to a division championship in 1986.

Bobby Lowe was actually a fine player for many years in the 1890s, but was washed up by 1904. He once hit 4 HRs in a game.

I've got the CUBS at 5-13 when Neifi starts, and 15-19 when he doesn't.

Your probably correct. Either way it is still bad.

My point is still that Neifi is REALLY bad.
