How about Brian Anderson? I dont think Mabry deserves this at all. I really think it would be wrong if he got suspended and Anderson didnt.

10 games? That seems a bit harsh. Didn't Robby Alomar get 10 games for spitting in an ump's face? I don't remember players getting 10 games for fighting, but I could be wrong.

Barrett's is appropriate. Love the guy, but what he did was dead wrong.

Not so sure about Mabry though---? Anderson should get some games.

so i know mabry got ejected and whatnot, but i was at a wedding during the game, so what exactly did mabry do? i saw him in the tussle at the bottom of the pile, but did he actually throw any punches?

Basically not much. His suspension is pretty bogus, although I don't think they'll drop it entirely.

Anything for AJ & Anderson?

and any idea of when he's supposed to serve the suspension? It better be AFTER Lee's return.

ANderson better get a suspension considering he threw a punch to atleast 2 people.

Mabry got gang-raped....got slung to the ground by Anderson and had like 6 or 7 sox players jump all over him.

I think the reason for it was because it didn't seem like Pierzynski wanted to fight. With other fights, like the Farnsworth-Wilson, both participents usually jaw at each other before fighting.

But this is what I don't understand about MLB suspensions. They don't seem to realize that suspensions mean different things depending on whether are you a starter, reliever, or position player. A 10 game suspension for Barrett should theoretically mean 20-25 for a reliever and 50 for a starter. But it never works out that way. MLB just hands out general suspensions without factoring in the players position.

mabry shouldn't have been punished at all. if you think of it in terms of a players contribution soccer, it makes sense. while a pitcher only pitches every fifth day, that means missing two starts as bad as a position player missing 10 games (ie they each miss about 1/16 of their playing time).

I should have clarified my first point. I was only referring to Barrett, whose suspension I agree with. Mabry's I don't agree with unless Anderson gets suspended as well. But you should either suspend both Mabry and Anderson or neither of the two. But it isn't fair to only suspend one.

Mabry didn't do any more or less than Anderson. IMO, their punishments should be equal. Which is bogus that Mabry even gets 2 games.

As far as Barrett, it's a little harsh, but it doesn't surprise me. Hopefully he can get it reduced on appeal. When does this go into effect? Man, it's gonna suck having The White Out catching instead....

From the video clips I saw I didn't see Mabry swinging away at players like Anderson was. Clearly, Anderson took a swing at Barrett as he was falling down and then another swing at Mabry. I would say if anything Barrett and Anderson deserve to be suspended.

Unless they appeal one but not the other so the suspensions aren't served simultaneously, they'll have to call a catcher up, since that's our starting catcher and our emergency 3rd catcher.

Mabry being suspended is insane. And relative to previous suspensions, Barrett's is way too long. You can't punish a guy just cause he was competent enough to ladn a punch instead of misfiring. And even if you did, Farns's punches on Wilson were way worse than Barrett's. Edited by SouthSideRyan

Am I the only one that thinks the length of Barrett's suspension is ridiculous?

Russ Springer got 4 games for throwing at Bonds... for throwing a baseball at him... and Barrett gets 10 games for punching someone? MLB is saying that it's worse to punch a guy than to freaking throw at him? That's crap, man!

WSI.com is reporting that Derrek Lee has also been suspended for 5 games for leaving the dugout while not on the 25 man roster. Not sure how valid it is though, but they claim they heard it on Sunday Night baseball.

I'm going to assume you're joking.
