Jim hendry was just on sports central,

"Dusty Baker deserves the right to pull this team out of it"

"I look at the situation every day and try to find ways to make this team better"

"Didnt expect Prior to miss the first 2 months of the season and thought Williams and Rusch would perform like they did in the last month of last season"

expects Prior to be at least pitching in the minors within a week or 2 and there is "NO SIGNIFIGANT TEARAGE IN HIS ARM" Am i the only one reading between the lines with tat one?

there was a lot more, gave no time table as to when something would be done. said 37 games is too soon to make a change, gave examples of Houston the last 2 years and Florida in 2003.

The whole Prior fascio is a [deleted] joke.

Funny Hendry mentions Flordia in 2003 who didn't take off till after there was a change in managers.

No significant terrage. Does that mean this is minor terrage? I thought all along there was nothing physically wrong with his arm apart form bursitus. Edited by Wilson A2000

Ha just another example of the Cubs flat out lying about there players health. I am sure before too much longer Mark will need Tommy John surgery but will miss part of next year too since we didn't take care of the problem right away.

And there's another example of craziness. Yeah I'm sure Mark would chance his carerr on that. His dad watches over him and hsi doctors closely. Something was wrong with him, but it isn't near Tommy John bad. I think.

At this point I just wish they would tell the fans anything. I mean we haven't really heard anything about him forever, sans he has no major tearage.

good grief, how long does dusty get to pull the team out of it? sooner or later they're going to luck into two straight wins...then is the whole losing for three straight weeks thing forgotten b/c he eventually pulled them out of it? sounds like you can lose 14 out of 16, but once you win a couple, you're in the clear as far as job security goes.

He was diagnosed with a strain in the shoulder, which I believe is technically a minor tear. Hendry would be correct in distinguishing it from a major tear, although depending on the question, it may be an odd choice of words.

the question went something like this

Kerry Wood has a reason for being injured, mulitple surgeries ect, why is it that Mark Prior takes so long to get ready

Maybe he is wimpy. Maybe he is thinking of his career and doesn't want to rush going back to a stinky team.

Maybe he was responding to some general speculation he's been hearing or just trying to reinforce the idea that the shoulder strain wasn't significant damage. Kind of odd, but I wouldn't worry unless he doesn't pitch to rookies within the next ten days. Of course, even then it wouldn't necessarily mean that there was more damage, but rather a flare up.

If Prior pitches in Mesa sometime around Friday and is on the same track Wood was on (2 times in Mesa followed by 2 rehab starts), he'd be on pace to return around June 8.

Is this Hendry’s vote of confidence? Prior probably does have a major tear because the cubs almost always lie when it comes to injuries with him and Wood.

I've heard that Prior actually died and was buried three months ago. The Cubs don't want to tell because they want to play with the minds of hte burgeoning Reds so hat they spend more money than they need to which will affect them financially for years.

no need to...Zito has already said Cleveland or Cincinnati will be his home next year. His best friend in baseball is Bronson Arroyo. So i will let you figure that one out.

Any news on Miller, Lee?

I wonder just how far Hendry will let the losing skid go before Dusty loses his chance. Sure seems like he really wants to give Dusty that extension.

Jim needs Dusty around, without dusty to blame he is next in line to go, Lee 2 1/2 more weeks in the cast then rehab, Miller can't come back until mid June due to being on the 60 day DL

I find it interesting that he referenced Florida in 2003. Yeah, I guess 37 games is too soon. I mean Florida waited a whole 38 games before they replaced Torborg.

I might agree that it's too early to do something if the Cubs were in every game. But, they aren't. They are embarrassingly bad. They can't hit, they can't pitch, they can't put runs on the board. It's probably not going to be "this" bad all season, but there really isn't a whole lot to get excited about.

Miller...well he is on schedule for another Tommy John around November 6 if he keeps up to his short-arming mechanics
