Mabry with yet another K. He was striking out on an average of once every 3.5 AB's or so before today's game. That'll just help that stat out.

But power hitters like Mabry tend to strike out frequently. Adam Dunn strikes out a lot, too, but his walks and homeruns more than make up for the whiffs.

I think you need to average a little better than one home run every 35 at bats during the course of your major league career to be considered a power hitter.

So you're saying you don't consider Dunn a power hitter :?:

If you have a choice of putting either Murton or Nefi in the #2 hole, what should the choice be?

Let me think for a moment..

Hmmm...

There's so many things wrong with this club it's not even funny.

uh, I'm pretty sure Dunn hits a homer in a shorter span than once in every 35 AB's. The only things they have in common is that they are left handed and that they play the OF/1B. Everything else is a pretty bad comparison between Mabry and Dunn.

RBI is a counting stat. Rate stats are more meaningful.

You have to be acting silly, no one can honestly compare Dunn to a journeyman like Mabry.

CUBS are 7-5 when their pitcher gets a hit.... 8-14 when he doesn't

Go CUBS !!

does this stat count the hit that Ohman had yesterday, or just Starting Pitchers?

any pitcher.

wait. if Mabry doesn't give us power off the bench or speed or particularly good defense, then why is he on the team?

What's with all the bickering? The Cubs are winning folks. We don't get to say that much these days, so be happy!

Freddy Bynum has as many RBI's as Juan Pierre.

I know your lead-off hitter isn't going to get a chance to knock in too many runs, but that is just awful no matter how you slice it.

Who knows, ask Jim Hendry that question, not me. Jacque Jones is on the team too, and I can't explain that one either.

If Dusty keeps putting his best hitters at the bottom of the order, Pierre should have plenty of chances to knock in runs.
