From his interview on the WGN Radio pregame show:

-Is pretty much only lifting with his legs right now. He cut out the cardio because he was losing too much weight

-The big cast comes off on Friday

-He'll be in a smaller cast for an additional three weeks and hopes to have that off on June 3

-He's looking at a return around June 10

Of course, June 10 seems rather optimistic, but it's nice to have a target.

ha i just posted this in the game day thread for today

Glad someone else heard "June 10." I was kinda shocked by that. But the more I think about it, if the small cast is coming off on June 3, mid-June doesn't seem too unlikely.

Certainly a lot better than July 1 or later that most people originally feared.

Sounds more like June 10th is day he returns to *playing*, not returning to the Cubs.

Unfortunately, at the pace the Cubs are currently going, by the time June 10 rolls around they will surely have overtaken the Pirates for last place in the NL Central and, with a little luck, we'll have overtaken the Marlins for the worst record in the NL.

Is there anyone good projected for next year's draft?

Is it possible to draft a new GM?

"I don't think I'll take too many at-bats in the minor leagues. Hopefully once I get the cast off it's a quick process."

He could probably hitt better than Neifi, Bynum, Hairy Jerry and Jack Jones combined just clubbing the ball with his cast.

He could swing with 1 hand and do better. Hell, he could just stand in the batters box and do better.
