how many guys can play 2b now? 6?

Let's see:

Walker

Neifi

Hairston

Bynum

The Riot

Cedeno (if needed)

Am I missing anyone? I'm glad we've got that base covered now.

Barrett has future 2B written all over him.

I think it's a good move if they did it to bring him up and let him play. Any move that keeps Hairston, Neifi, and Bynum out of the lineup can't be bad...unless he under performs those three guys which will be really hard to do.

Apparently, Jim "Maverick" Hendry and Dusty "Goose" Baker has this certain need......THE NEED FOR SPEED, baby.

Baseball skills and IQ be darned, all the Cubs need is speed.

Gutsiest move I ever saw.

Congrats to Riot and I hope it leads to the release of Bynum. Or perhaps this is the beginning of the Bynum and Baker show. Maybe the ex-LSU Tigers can jump through a ring of fire?

Screw Maverick. Iceman was better.

Theriot replaced Restovich on the 25-man. Theriot was already on the 40-man. Restovich is no longer on the 40-man, so there is a spot open. That spot could be taken by Wade Miller when he returns off the 60-day DL (He's eligible to be activated on June 1 or 2).

baffling move. would have liked to see the Cubs give Restovich more of a chance instead of giving him only 12 ab's.

do these guys pay any attention to the stat sheets? this team needs more power. not a bunch of slap hitters. if they looked at the stat sheet, maybe they'd recognize pierre and jones are good against righties, but awful against lefties. start platooning!

Cubs people don't believe in stats, they know what they know by seeing with their eyes and being around the game.

Besides they got yelled at for being a "wait for the homer" team last year, then they took on the speed and ball catching ability approach. They aren't going to change that until next offseason when they try to emulate whoever wins this year's world series.

Is there any truth to the rumor we just traded for Mark Grudzielanek again?

I heard that. It was on right after the announcement of the Delino DeShields signing.

I thought so. Oh wait...Mickey Morandini just signed a minor league deal!

Then what are we supposed to do with Todd Haney? Surely he deserves some PT.
