Now that I think about it, didn't Maddux struggle against the Brewers last year? I'd look it up, but I'm trying to prepare for a presentation I have in an hour.

Fearless prediction: Cedeno goes deep.

Even more fearless prediction: The wind is blowing out to right and Pierre goes deep.

Pierre: 9 career HR in 3493 AB's for a ratio of 388 AB per HR

Cedeno: 1 career HR in 145 AB's for a ratio of 145 AB per HR

It should be noted that Pierre has gone deep at least once (high of 3 in 2004) in all 5 of his full big league seasons.

According to this site, Juan had 1 HR in 1305 minor league at bats. In all his professional career, the ratio is 479.8 AB per HR.

Ronny went 71.58 AB per HR in the minors.

Jerks.

Last year he was 2-1 with a 4.80 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and a .328 BAA against the Brewers.

Regardless, he'll still dominate tomorrow.

Dear Greg, don't talk baseball to your brother, especially while he is still an NL Central pitching coach. Thank you. :-)

I think it's kinda funny the Brewers are sending Bush out as their starter.

Why? Here's why:

Of all people, Junior Spivey has always hit Maddux well, so Cubs fans should rejoice that he's no longer with the Brewers (or playing for the Cards, for that matter).

As per Mr. Miles

Maddux looks to make a little history by extending his winning streak to five games in his fifth start of the season. It would mark the first time in his career that he has opened a season 5-0. If the past is any indication, the 40-year-old has a good shot: He is 12-3 with a 2.16 ERA against the Brewers.

Anybody have any idea or location where I might find the longest streak of wins to open a season without a ND.

So going 6-0 over the first 9 starts does not count.

The Daily Southtown hints that Barrett may not be able to start.

Do we have any word on this from other sources?

I figured that. He sits today and starts tomorrow. You can bet on that.

© Murton leads the team with 7 two-out RBI.

SPECTACULAR START: Today, Greg Maddux looks to improve to 5-0 in a season for the first time in his career.

NOT SINCE 1975…

The last time the Cubs won a pitcher’s first five starts in a season was in

1987. Chicago won Scott Sanderson’s first five starts, with Sanderson beginning the 1987 campaign with a 3-0 mark.
