Alright, I've been working game threads out of the pen having earned my first save earlier this year. I had to have this start pushed back as I got stretched out, but I'm ready to go six...maybe seven...hell maybe even 145...let's get on a roll Cubbies!

So after an off day, the Cubs will take on division foe the Brewers in a 1:20 start.

The great Greg Maddux(4-0, 0.99 ERA-- that's right an 0.99 ERA. Holy Kent...did you see that! a 0.99 ERA and he's 40 years old)

takes on Dave Bush of the Brewers.

(I did a GIS for "Bush" and forgot to put the safe search on and let's just say the results weren't "family friendly.")

However I did like this pic--->http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/presidents/george-hw-bush/george_hw_bush_pitching.gif

By the way, Maddux has won a few of these--->http://tripwatch.com/ny/cooperstown/photo/cy_young_award.jpg

Let's ask another old guy how many he has. Hey Roger, how many of those has Greg won?

That's right, you old bastard. Stay retired.

Ok on to the game thread.....

For the record Bush has 0. Edge Maddux.

Maddux also has 322 of these-->http://clarkstreetsports.com/images/FL01(1).jpg

Bush has 12. Edge Maddux.

Maddux has 3070 strike-outs.

Bush has 162. Edge Maddux.

Maddux's career ERA is 3.00

Bush's is 4.09. Edge Maddux.

Maddux is trying to win his fifth consecutive start to begin the season for the first time in...that's right....forever!

Cubs are going to roll over the Brewers. Does anyone really think we're going to lose to some chump named "Bush?" Of course not. Who do you think we are, John Kerry? Al Gore? No, we're the Cubbies, for Len's sake...and we're gonna roll!!!

Should be a nice day at Wrigley on Friday, but there's currently a 60% chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday.

The forecast for Friday also calls for a 10 mph wind coming in from right off the lake.

I really wanna go to Milwaukee tomorrow afternoon.

?

Yeah, Mark - Cubs are in Wrigley through the weekend and into next week. First the Brewers, then the Buccos.

That sounds like good news.

Would Barrett's finger be all right by Fri for him at least to PH?

Are you willing to stay there for an entire day longer for a chance to rub it in the Brewers fans' faces after we win at Wrigley?

Vance, best start to the game thread of 2006 by far and you stole my political joke re: Bush.

Did Rusch get pushed back or skipped? I remember another thread talking about how Rusch was going to make his normally scheduled start Friday and Maddux would go on Saturday. Anyone know what happened?

For the record I'm not complaining Maddux is starting, I'm just wondering why.

Maybe hes going to watch game 3 of the Bucks/Pistons series. Or maybe he's so overjoyed that Brett Favre is coming back that he has to go up and celebrate with his fellow Packers fans.

I've reached various levels of stupidity the last few dyas. Thinking Clemente was number 30 to wasting almost 200 miles of gas to spend a day in Milwaukee (or at least alluding to it...). All this finals time is making my damn head spin.

Woo-hoo Brett Favre came back. Are all you Packers fans ready for another 5-11 season where Farve throws 25 picks? Cause that's what's going to happen.

Rusch will get an extra day of rest and start on Saturday, presumably to avoid throwing Greg off his normal routine while he is pitching like this.

Hopefully Maddux will start the series off well.

GOING TO THE GAME ON FRIDAY!!!!!

I'm sitting in a Cubs Box Suite which stinks, but it was free so no complaints!

GO CUBS

Posted

7 innings, no runs, 3 hits, no walks, 5 K's for Maddux

Cubs win 7-1 as Murton drives in 4 and Aramis Ramirez goes deep twice.

You heard it here first.
