Neifi at 2nd and Walker at 1st according Dan McNeil on ESPN 1000

yeah I heard that too.

Cedeno

Walker

why does Busty hate Hairston so much?

I like Cedeno in that 2nd spot in the order more and more...

Cedeno's my choice to stay at number 2 even when Lee is back. We need Walker in the middle of the lineup, even when Lee is back, because Jones and Murton aren't knocking many people in. Murton right now is only 2 for his last 22. That's less than .100 batting average. Murton is going to have to start driving in more runs, for our offense to score runs on any kind of consistent basis. I love Murton's patience at the plate and believe he'll be an outstanding major league hitter, but he's got to get it going.

It will be interesting when Lee comes back to see what Baker does with the #2 spot. Leave Cedeno in there and move Walker to 5th or 6th?

You know, if everyone is producing as they can, that almost looks like a solid major league lineup. :D We'll have to wait 8-10 weeks to find out.

You could bat Cedeno 2nd against lefties and Walker 2nd against righties. I don't care either way as long as Cedeno continues to produce. It's a problem I don't think anybody would mind having.

It seems like Murton is a little streaky. I think he'll be fine and will drive in plenty as the season goes on.

Here's some worthless stats of the day for Monday.....

CUBS are 2-4 when they've won their previous game

Wouldn't they actually be 3-6 after winning their previous game. I may be misinterpreting this stat but I think I'm right.

Yes, .... and no. They're 2-4 after a single win. I gotta find a better way to word that. Anyhow.... it breaks down like this.....

CUBS are 2-4 when they've won their last game

CUBS are 1-1 when they've won their last 2 games

CUBS are 0-1 when they've won their last 3 games

.... so yes, it does sum to 3-6.

I'm sorry for nitpicking. I thought that there was more to it than what I was seeing. I do appreciate the stats though. Keep it up.

Here's some interesting splits. Cedeno is 1 for 13 against lefties so far this year for a .077 batting average. Against righties this year Cedeno is 19 for 42 for a .452 average. Walker is 1 for 11 against lefties this year for a .091 batting average. He's 19 for 38 against righties for a .500 batting average. So both have ripped righties this year, and neither has hit lefties very well. So it may not matter who's on the mound for the other team.

Wow, that is quite surprising. Thank you for that information.

I don't know Ronny's splits from last year at Iowa, but Walker had a .980 OPS last year against lefties in 91 ABs. A bit extreme, but he's certainly not a Jacque Jones.

According to Dusty, Neifi's starting because of his lifetime stats against Vargas. Not surprising, even though it's 3 ABs.

I got a chuckle out of that one Jon. Thanks.

"He's in the lineup because he's the only one who's really hit well against Vargas."

Neifi is 3-3 with a double. Hairston is 1-3 with a double and 3 RBIs.

Small sample anyways. We'll see how bad Neifi is today, I'm sure of it....

Holy crap, the game's on here!

:Parties:

Wow, same here!

Move aside, school work.

Oh, and someone needs to control Karros' haircut.

Thank you to ESPN for not having Joe Morgan announce this game.

BTW we already had a World Series drought mention. I didn't see a Bartman mention though.

Agreed. I laughed when I saw him.
