  1. Tell me about it. If he can't hit, at least play some defense. Jones has been bad but Aram right now just flat out sucks.
  2. I know everybody's pissed at Jones right now, and so am I but when is Aram going to start hitting. I hope its sometime this year. He looks like he did at Pitt for a couple of years. The bad ones that is.
  3. Yep, I'm all for that.
  4. Dusty take this pathetic pitcher out of the rotation, and call up Hill please. We have almost no chance of winning with this guy on the mound.
  5. If he continues to hit like this I sure hope he get's a shot. He's more of a natural first baseman than anybody we have available right now. It also would cut Neifi's pt, because Walker would get most of the starts at 2nd. I wish they would call him up now while he's on fire.
  6. Pierre Cedeno Lee Ramirez Walker Barrett Murton Jones You know, if everyone is producing as they can, that almost looks like a solid major league lineup. :D We'll have to wait 8-10 weeks to find out. You could bat Cedeno 2nd against lefties and Walker 2nd against righties. I don't care either way as long as Cedeno continues to produce. It's a problem I don't think anybody would mind having. Here's some interesting splits. Cedeno is 1 for 13 against lefties so far this year for a .077 batting average. Against righties this year Cedeno is 19 for 42 for a .452 average. Walker is 1 for 11 against lefties this year for a .091 batting average. He's 19 for 38 against righties for a .500 batting average. So both have ripped righties this year, and neither has hit lefties very well. So it may not matter who's on the mound for the other team.
  7. yeah I heard that too. Pierre Cedeno Walker ARam Barrett Murton Jones Perez Zambrano why does Busty hate Hairston so much? I like Cedeno in that 2nd spot in the order more and more... Cedeno's my choice to stay at number 2 even when Lee is back. We need Walker in the middle of the lineup, even when Lee is back, because Jones and Murton aren't knocking many people in. Murton right now is only 2 for his last 22. That's less than .100 batting average. Murton is going to have to start driving in more runs, for our offense to score runs on any kind of consistent basis. I love Murton's patience at the plate and believe he'll be an outstanding major league hitter, but he's got to get it going.
  8. Speaking of low batting averages, Ramirez is starting to worry me a little. He's got to start knocking runs in. I hope he starts to get it going. Also, was Zambrano really only throwing 85-89 last night like that gun said? Erye's and Howry's usual velocity was about the same on that gun as other guns.
  9. Anybody is better than Rusch. I personally want to see what Guzman can do. Sure he'll struggle at times, but with his stuff he'll pitch well plenty of times too IMO. But Rusch needs to be taken out of the rotation. What's the first thing that comes to your mind when Rusch is getting ready to pitch? Mine is we're going to lose today. I don't have anything personally against Rusch, but he's terrible. A starting pitcher's job is to give his team a chance to win. Rusch doesn't do that. I mean, C'mon how can a major league pitcher give up two home runs to a pitcher. Hendry and Dusty, will you please wake up! Give one of our young talented pitchers a chance.
  10. Pagan's speed has been very impressive thus far. His hitting hasn't been to bad either. That steal he had against the Giants was impressive. You couldn't get a better jump than that. Now he's just hit a homerun. This trade may turn out pretty good. In my mind, he's been one of the most surprising players in ST. Marshall like wise has been very impressive.
  11. Yep, the Rockies do have interest in him.
  12. Welly just has no control AT ALL!
  13. That's the way I see it too. I do think however one of our relievers will be traded, but I doubt its Williamson. Welly, Novoa, maybe.
  14. I started the thread about why we have so many position player flops. I'd like to hear your opinion on this.
  15. More prospects flop than succeed? I think the biggest change is that we now know all about prospects when 20 years ago we knew nothing. I'm not denying the Cubs have failed to develop hitters, just pointing out that the increase in flops is largely due to the internet and our new awareness of prospects. I would also add that we largely over-value prospects because we are looking at the wrong stats or just ignoring relevant stats based on scouting reports. I agree that more prospects flop than suceed, just saying as you pointed out we don't produce the kind of hitters that other top minor league systems do. I can't complain about the pitchers this organization has been producing though. Between the two I'd rather have an organization better at producing pitchers than position players, but It would be a big help if we could produce more hitters.
