People, if the first pitch is a good pitch to hit, there's nothing wrong with swinging at it. If murton's ball gets by Arroyo, it's a single up the middle.

When someone is pitching as well as Arroyo, it doesnt hurt to take a pitch or two, make him work, and get his pitch count up.

If a 4.00 ERA in 2004/2005 as a starter is mediocre then yes, if not no.

I love absolutes, wrong again. He did have a couple of really bad starts in 2005 but overall he was good. (12 starts out of 15)

Why did we sign Rusch to a two year deal? He hasn't pitched well since 2004.

The genius of Hendry and his love for mediocrity.

Wait, are you saying Glendon Rusch is not mediocre?

I just now realized Cedeno is #5 this year instead of #11.

Yep, that's why I got the jersey this offseason.

Me too, authenic Cedeno jersey for $50

If the ball is going back to the pitcher or popped up to LF, it's not a good pitch to hit. You should hit a linedrive on the first pitch, if you are gonna swing.

Why let FACTS get in the way of a good rant?

Our only chance is to get into their bullpen and they way Arroyo is throwing he might go the distance.

Falling into old habits and tendancies already.

It's just one game, but they are giving me no reason to believe my prediction of 80 wins will be incorrect.

Exactly.

Make the pitcher work. Even if you're taking a first pitch strike and end up having to battle and foul off pitches. If not, you end up letting the pitcher breeze through the game, like we did all year last year and are doing today.

Jacque should give Ronny his number back. No reason for them both to suck.

You're going to need No. 3 starting Friday, when Ronny switches again. Jerome to go to No. 57.

I certainly would have liked to see Rusch gone a little longer. Very disappointing that in the Cubs first two games, the starters didnt even combine for 9 innings. And great, a homer by Griffey. Ugh.
