Hey now..I've been in that position, and it sucks knowing your career is over.

Even if you're a Cobra Kai-er, Dukie.

That LSU vs. Texas game is going to be unreal. I can't wait!

UCLA vs. Memphis isn't gonna be bad either. A lot better than the matchups will be on the other half that plays tonight.

Isn't that Melchionni? Looks like a double digit jersey.

In the foreground it's Melchionni. I have no idea who it is in the background.

We have experienced some great wins as fans on this board. IU vs. Duke in 2001. Illinois vs. Arizona last year. UCLA v. Gonzaga this year. Now if we can combine that and do that for our baseball team.

Only because they represented the Pac-10. I really hate Mustafa and Lute Olson, I wasn't exactly saddened to see Illinois win (and embarass Lute, at that).

I guess it depends on what side of the fence you sit on. I didn't see an Illinois win in that game, nor did I see an Illinois comeback. I saw an Arizona loss, and an Arizona collapse. It was still a great game, but I saw more of a collapse than I did a comeback.

Illinois hit all their shots and made some big plays in the end. Not to give them credit for coming back and doing everything to get back in that game is fine but I disagree with you. Sure, Arizona missed some free throws, didn't attack the basketball, and was lazy on offense, but give Illinois credit for drilling three 3 pointers, getting three critical steals, and for making the comeback. That game better be on ESPN classic this week.

I only wish I could have been there last year when the round of 16 was in my backyard. I tried feverishly to get a single.

Arron Afflalo represents UCLA with class and dignity (this after Morrison talked crap to Afflalo all game):

Don't go there, Cali. They both did ample jawing, and the refs spoke to them both about their uber-physicality.

What a disgusting three minutes. HORRIBLE ball handling by the Bulldogs. They should have taken every second off the clock they could for every possession at the end, but no. :(

Oh, I give Illinois credit, they did hit their shots, and they had a lot to do with winning that game. But Arizona didn't play to win, they played not to lose. The Illinois steals you saw looked more like horrible passes from Arizona to me. They had a complete breakdown at the end of the game. I'm not taking anything away from Illinois, but it looked to me like Arizona just choked. Like I said, it depends on what side of the fence you sit. Illinois fans saw a tremendous comeback. Non-Illinois fans saw a tremendous collapse. Either way it was still a great game, and yes, should be an ESPN Classic.

FYI --- The Illinois-Arizona game from last year has already aired twice this month on ESPN Classic (most recently on 3/15) -- I checked the schedule and it does not look to be airing again during the tournament.

I think any dramatic comeback has to include a collapse. A good team up double digits with little time left isn't going to lose unless they cough it up. It happened in the Illinois-Arizona game, and it happened last night in the UCLA-Gonzaga game. Gonzaga was playing not to lose, went way to conservative on offense, and played piss poor on the press break. If Gonzaga played the same style of ball the got them a 17 point lead, they would not have lost.

I think that when a team goes up big, they usually get complacent and lax for a brief period, and good teams can sense that and ramp it up to seize the opportunity to change the flow of the game. This can change an aggressive tem into a tentative and scared team, and make a game of a blowout. This is what I think happened in both the Illini and UCLA wins, and in most big comebacks. Sure, Gonzaga and Arizona choked, but only because their opponents smelled the blood in the water, and struck.

I was impressed the Gonzaga players had the class to walk off applauding UCLA instead of hanging their heads. What a great finish to the night!

I hope people don't say Gonzaga can't go deep in the tourney because of last night's loss. I think they can beat anyone in the country if they had the chance. They have (had) as much talent as most of the country, they have great coaching (for the next week til Few comes East to Bloomington).

I think they were quite overrated. They barely beat a lot of very mediocre teams all year. Morrison carried them but I don't think they were remotely a great team.

Nah it was both, how could you not see it that way. First off we made like what 4 threes? No matter how bad they choked you still got to knock down those shots. That said if Lute would have been smart enough to draw up a play or two andif they would have just held the ball for us to foul them and who knows.
