goes off again in the SI interview.

I still would take him over Baker in a heartbeat.

I'm not so sure I would. Guillen really isn't a great manager. His job last year was similar to the job Baker did in '03 IMO.

Agreed. The 2005 White Sox was team that used the old Cub formula of "Lightning-in-a-bottle" and perfected it.

Guillen is pure overrated, and most importantly, nobody can understand him. Give me Baker.

You can have Baker...I can't believe such a level-headed group of Cub fans would take him...You badmouth him all year, but would STILL rather have him than Ozzie?

They're both awful. Baker is terrible with pitchers, and Ozzie can't keep his paws off the offense.

If I'm gonna have a bad manager I'd rather have the one who rambles nonsensically than one who rambles incoherently AND is a jagoff.

This is from the guy who says Prior is not an injury risk.

Well you're right, he's totally at risk to take another line drive off the elbow, or to collide on the basepaths with a midget second baseman.

There are some flaws w/Prior's mechanics, there are some things he does very well w/his delivery and some things that need to be fixed.

And how does that compare to the rest of the league? Is he more mechanically flawed than Jason Marquis or Doug Davis? No one has a truly flawless delivery.

Maddux is the closest to perfection, but you strive for perfection regardless of the inability to obtain it.

Prior has a chicken-wing delivery.

He has flaws that can lead to a higher injury rate under a higher workload.

As a PC, one of your goals is to maintain the health of a pitcher and improving mechanics is one of the ways to turn around the injury pattern of a pitcher, although Prior has only had one injury caused by faulty mechanics.

But, Prior was "off" last year mechanically. People get blinded by the smoothness of his delivery and he starts his motion very well, but to maintain a clean bill of health, he has some things to work on.

Ever watch Byrd's delivery? It's a slightly less torqued version of Prior's, similar ease of pitching, but a long history of arm problems.

Ozzie Guillen doesn't know anything more about being a foreigner than A-Rod or Nomar does. The guy has a crapload of money and one of the easiest jobs one can have. He doesn't know what the hell being a foreigner is like anymore. I'd say more but I'd probably get banned. Summary: Ozzie's an ass.

Ozzie isn't great however I thought he did a good job handling his bullpen last year.

He also had the good fortune of Bobby Jenks coming in and kicking tail out of the bullpen. Without Jenks, I'm not sure how well the White Sox would have done in the playoffs.

Yeah but a lot of managers wouldn't have put Jenks in the closer role in the first place. He could have moved Hermanson back to the closer role once he got healthy.

When did Hermanson come back? I distinctly remember watching Hermanson blow a 9th inning against the Royals near the end of the season, right before I left the rec center.

You were lucky then, because Hermanson didn't blow leads much last year. Probably the most absurd of the many White Sox career years considering he had been barely average much of his career coming in.

Hermanson didn't pitch at the end of the year at all. I am not sure if he even pitched during the playoffs. Ozzie got a contract extnesion during a plane ride near midseason. He came very cheaply. I don't even think it was 2 million a year. You really can't say he is rich in the sense that he tried to get a huge whopping contract.

Haha.

AP"]"I learned a lesson. I never took a first shot at anybody in my life and now I feel like I took the first shot. I feel embarrassed, I feel guilty. I wish I had not said it the way it sounds or the way I said it," Guillen said at a news conference at the White Sox spring training complex on reporting day for pitchers and catchers.
AP"]"Shut it up," Steinbrenner said Saturday, moving his hands across his lips in a zipper move. "I like Ozzie Guillen as a manager, but I don't like him when he pops off like that," the Boss said, following with a profanity.

so let me get this straight. because he now has money he doesn't know what it's like to be from another country?

aren't most of you people with the "if your last name ends in a vowel you can play for italy" jokes, but when ozzie basically says the same stuff he's wrong? hmm.
