A 3-3 tie. USA dominated the last 10 minutes of the game, but had nothing to show for it. Kinda crappy start to the hockey tournament...

Lucky they're in a fairly easy block. They've still got supposedly easy wins over Kazakhstan and Slovakia to come (although the Slovaks did beat Russia today).

Slovakia is probably as good as the USA if not better. Gaborik, Demitra, Marian Hossa, Bondra and Satan are good scorers, and Chara and Visnovsky are strong defensemen. Main question is how good their goalie is.

yeah Slovakia has a pretty dangerous offense. If the US doesn't win tomorrow, we're screwed.

Slovakia is better than the US.

We have better goaltending, better d, but their offense is going to be too much I think. That Gaborik-Demitra-Hossa line looks unbelievable.

Jan Lasak is their goalie. He's alright. DiPietro is way more capable of stealing the game, but I don't think he can against that those forwards. Of course if the US plays as physically as they did last game, it could give them the edge.

slovakia has 2 really good lines at forward, and 1 really good pair of d. their goalie isnt that great. overall, the us is deeper but not really more talented. should be a good game

Amazing. Lindsey Jacobellis looks back and goes for style points on the second to last jump when she has the gold secured. She goes down and finishes 2nd. Wow.

That's what she gets for showboating.

Every coach in America should show that to his/her athletes as an example of why rubbing it in is bad.

Now come on guys, Lindsey was just getting herself set for the landing on that jump. She said so herself.

Maybe she was distracted by her Visa Check Card getting stolen.

Between Bode and Weir running their mouths and winning nothing, the hockey team tying LATVIA, Ohno falling down, Shani Davis refusing to compete in team pursuit, and now Jacobellis losing gold on a showboat move, it's hard to root for this US team.

I was watching that, and that move was as unnecessary as Ohno falling down trying to pass for first place when all he needed to do was stay in second to advance. I think it may just be a case of competitive nature prevailing over good judgment.

Agreed. I always cheer against show boaters. Nothing angered me more than to watch Sammy Sosa do the hop and end up with a long single when the ball he hit never left the park.

If it's any consolation, though. Her showboating move to lose the race will probably end up being much more memorable and receive much more television exposure for years to come than if she would have just focused on what she was supposed to do and just win the race. Better yet, she will have that permanent reminder (silver medal) that she was the best loser in that race.

The Swiss defeat Canada 2-0

what a job of goaltending by Martin Gerber..49 saves to get the shutout.

Gerber's glove save on Nash was unbelievable!

Great performance by the Swiss! Huge upset!

Fro those who don't understand the Gumbel allusion, he made a ridiculous comment the other day basically saying that the Winter Olympics aren't valid events because not enough black people participate. I believe the exact phrasing was "as white as a GOP convention" (the rare double-stereotype - blacks are automatically athletic AND they're all Democrats - of a race BY that race).

Way to go Shani Davis, and thanks for costing us a medal in team pursuit, you selfish prick.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm a fan of his decision

Say what you will about Sosa and I know everyone has there opinion on him and his supposed selfishness, but I don't think I've ever seen anything so blatantly selfishness, as what Shani did.
