Wale has the better numbers, but Alex Brown has had the more dominant season. Could argue for both of those guys. Also Peanut should have been considered.

I'm just glad Harris made it. I thought he would be overlooked.

I'd have to disagree. While Brown has come on STRONG of late, he was a relative non factor til around the Carolina game. Then all of a sudden, not only was he getting to the quarterback, but he began knocking down a SLEW of passes (I'd bet he leads the league among DLs in that department). Definately a strong 2nd half, just not as consistent from start to finish as Ogun.

I'll have to say I'm fairly surprised we got this many in. All these guys were deserved, and I thought Ogun and Ayanbandejo (how did he NOT get in??) should have went as well. Five defensive starters is extremely impressive.

Individually, the only "mild" surprise of the guys that got in was Harris. I'd say of all the positions, DT is the HARDEST to grade. A lot depends on the responsibilities the team delegates to that position (upfield penetreation, occupation of blockers, etc.). What probably assured Tommy of his spot was his ability to read the snap count. It used to be once every 2-4 games where'd he time the count so perfectly he'd almost take the handoff. Recently though he's been doing this once a game. I believe he did it againt the Pack (and caused a fumble), and against the Steelerls (he hit the QB instead of the back he handed off to). Its these unbelievable plays that stick in the voters' minds.

Tillman has had a better year than Vasher, Tillman is the #1 shut down CB on the Bears. Vasher has a nose for the Fb and been more opportunistic as far as INTs and the return against SF. Tillman has improved game by game and been one of the better CBs in the League and I was critical of him early on.

I'm glad to see Brown make it.

You guys also have to consider what other players are at the position. The only ones in the NFC that I would put over Brown at safety are Sean Taylor, Roy Williams, and Brian Dawkins (and apparently Taylor is only a 2nd alternate for some reason...). Of those, Sean and Brian are free safeties. Roy is going to be the starting strong safety and Mike Brown is going to be the backup.

On another note, Bernard Berrian won special teams player of the week...

Ive havent seen roy enough to judge him fairly. But, he is the one that blew the game to the Redskins. He got burned twice by moss deep over the middle on the monday night game.

Tommie Harris is fabulous. I'm really glad to see Brown and Briggs in there.

It's interesting to see who was leading the fan vote and then see who actually made the team. It's a good indication of who the Coach's and Players think are disserving.

I agree. Interceptions are the sexy stat and the reason Vasher is going to Hawaii.

I'm glad that Harris, Brown and Briggs are getting their dues. :)

Game note:

Samkon Gado out for year after tearing MCL in BAL game.

So who are the Packers down to at RB now?

Noah Herron?

Poor Jon.

Noah Herron and Tony Fisher who should be in NFL Europe. Gado was on pace for 200 yards in the game against the Ravens..he was getting better and better every game. I look for him to remain with the team next year. With Gado out, we mind as well forfeit these last 2 games...they are going to be pretty ugly.

It's been my impression that Tillman has given up more big plays, though.

Those big plays have gone down in the past few weeks and he's going up against the opponents' #1 WR every week.

Yes, but I'm not sure that's enough to equal Vasher's. Tillman has probably done a better job against the run, though.

wow. congrats to those guys. Kruetz shouldn't be listed and Wale should be.

Anyone else feel T. Jones got screwed? I thought he was definitely gonna sneak in as the third RB.

Thomas Jones: 277 car, 1168 yards, 8 tds, 142 rec. yards, 2 fumbles lost

Warrick Dunn: 259 car, 1328 yards, 3 tds, 205 rec. yards, 1 rec td, 1 fumbles lost

I heard somewhere that Thomas Jones has accomodated for 37% of the Bears offense this year. That's insane.

5 defensive pro-bowlers, 3 other defensive players that could have easily been there (tillman, brown, wale), a rookie who looks like he could be there in the future, and a solid OLB that won't get the recognition, but is a good player in his own right.

i guess the only weak link is scott/tank, and those guys aren't really weak links.

I would hardly call tank and ian scott weak links. Tank has 4 sacks this year while only playing 20-25% of the snaps. Also keep in mind that it is only his second year and he has had to work his way into playing time. Boone also has 1.5 sacks. The amount of production we have gotten from our 4 DTs this year is really good.

Absolutely not. TJ had a pretty darn good year, but it really pales a bit compared to Alexander, Barber, and Dunn.

I'm a bit confused as to why you compared him to Dunn. The only place Warrick did not do better was in TD totals. The only reason for that is they typically bring in Duckett in the red zone (justification for keeping him on the roster, I guess) plus Vick runs a lot of bootlegs inside the 5.

I just compared him to Dunn because Alexander and Barber obviously deserve to be there. Not that Dunn doesn't, but thats the only person TJ could replace. Dunn did have a huge year though, and I'm not trying to take anything away from him or his season, I'm just biased, haha.

If they had a 4th spot, TJ definitely belongs.

Special teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo and defensive end Alex Brown were named first alternates, Jones and defensive end Adewale Ogunleye were chosen as second alternates and tight end Desmond Clark was tabbed as a third alternate.

Desmond Clark?

Desmond Clark?

Worst group of TEs ever, if he's considered to be in the top 3rd of NFC TEs.

Hm...Crumpler and Shockey made it. I would say LJ Smith, Witten, Cooley, Stevens, Pollard, and Wiggins ahead of him. Pretty bad if he is actually the 3rd alternate. NFC has a good crop of tight ends.

kreutz is the best center in the NFL, and there's not even a question about it anymore.

Personally, I think the OL Pro Bowl selections are based entirely on reputation. I was probably overreaching with my statement but I'd still take Kevin Mawae over Kruetz. Olin had a terrible season in '04 and definitely didn't deserve to make it. This year, I think its as much lack of other pro bowl caliber C in the NFC than Kruetz's great season.

I wouldn't take Mawae over Olin. He has been out for large portions of the last two years and is getting kinda old.
